using the word "Rules" in a screen instantly conveys the individual's intelligence level, or lack thereof.

So if we go by everyone's ancedotal proof of qtr mile times for Lightnings (or any other car for that matter) C5 Vettes are no faster than the 14.1s I saw several of them run last time I was at the dragstrip. (We all know they are faster than that).

Most every mag I have read that uses someone that knows what they are doing and bothers to go to a real strip and make sure conditions are right (traction compound, cool motor, etc...) as well as serious drag racers I know all ran/run 13.7x give or take a little with a stock Lightning.

Hey mr. GTP to bad that car won't run a mid 14 stock. I used to have a 97 GTP with a few mods and the fastest I got that thing to go was a 14.8. I've seen the gtp's hit the 13's without NOS, but they got some serious mods done to them. Allot more then it takes a L to get in the 12's. Even worse is the fact that my buddies old R/T beat a GTP with him and his buddy in it. the R/T ran a consistant 15 but we had three people in it also. Pretty sad on the GTP's part. Quit fu@king around on the L site, cause we all know your a bitch and your GTP ain't got *****.

Cool

Dont Quote me on this, but I heard once from an ex Gen1 Lightning engineer that ALL ford trucks are performance rated carrying HALF of the rated bed load, that included the lightning.

Dont know if they still do that with the Gen2's but it would make sense.

We KNOW they underated the Motor HP numbers, they probably underated the performance numbers too. No more mistakes like the 2K Cobra.

That way we are assured of spanking certain unamed cars on our way back from the Home Depot....

Who cares what the Mag-Rags say about them. Come to think of it mine only runs mid 17's. Isn't that correct "Mr. insurance man"? Just because a vehicle has certain performance capabiblities does not mean the driver is capable of achieving them. I am sure everyone here could hop into Force's funny car and run 4.80's all day or qualify one of Penske's cars on the pole. Exteme, but you get the point. Vehicle only as good as the driver.

Does anyone know what Ford quotes the new Mustang GT's?
The new brochure quotes 13.9 for the L, and it seems last years GT was quoted at 14.0 if I remember right.

I would think Ford wouldn't want to compete with themselves if the truck was faster. But then again, not everyone is a "truck" person ,I guess.

Just back from the strip with my stock Lightning. 9800 miles, never been touched, three runs 13.76, 13.78, 13.83 (spun a little, tried to leave on boost). The other bone stock Lightning (about 5500 miles) there ran 13.74 the one time I saw a slip on him. (Of course it was the time I ran a .83) He said he had run a 13.6 earlier.

Coolest part is how easy it is to run that quick. Pull around the water, spin tires enough to dry them off, leave in Drive, and launch with boost gauge at 0. Possibly could have gone quicker if I had wanted to work at it, but I was satisfied with the 13.7s and didn't think I could knock a whole lot off that with the bed cover on, 3/4 tank of fuel and without burning up too much more of these high dollar tires.
