Wow, that's beautiful, and the scenery isn't bad either

so....you live outside of a "berg"...really?

That doesn't freak you out a little?

I'm afraid of bridges (so it makes perfect sense that I am training to get my CDL) I don't know how I would handle bergs

Berg

I mean a little town, Valdez, about 3500 people. Thanks for the compliment on the L. I've kept it pretty stock looking, but under the hood there is not much left from the factory, as far as the engine goes. This is a pic of main street Valdez - not too many high rises.

I was raised in Denver but that reminds me a lot of the town I went to college in, Durango, CO. I didn't think there were many places as pretty as Durango, I see I was wrong. I like small towns a lot better than big cities. But I also like nighttime...don't y'all have like 6 months with no darkness? I would miss the stars.

Not here

It's midnite now and I can still see the mountains. It stays pretty light all through May, June & July. The sun never sets in northern Alaska, but that is about 700 miles north of here (Barrow). Valdez is in southcentral Alaska, right on the Gulf of Alaska. Lots of fish and great boating. By the way I went skiing once in Durango when I was going to college at Arizona State. Had fun there.

I guess that wouldn't be so bad...I have a dumb question...do y'all celebrate 4th of July with fireworks? That was probably even more dumb than my thinking you meant you lived by an ice berg But I bet there are things I can tell you about Hawaii you never knew...my Mom was born and raised there and I lived there for 7 years.

I hope this picture turns out...I haven't posted a picture here in a while...if it does, this is what I used to wake up to every morning when I was in school.

How funny...you went to ASU and have been to Durango, I went to Fort Lewis and live in Tempe, Chandler.

Do y'all have a lot of bears? Durango did. They were always on campus, but just the little ones, not giant eat-your-face-off-your-head bears.

4th of July

H@ll yes, as a matter of fact they are legal in this part of Alaska, but since it has been such a dry spring and summer so far, I think most cities and boroughs have put a ban on them. Matter of fact there are now 55 fires burning in the interior of Alaska and some in the Yukon (Canada). There is traces of smoke even here now, and I have heard, it is really smokey around Fairbanks, stay inside no outdoor excercise, that bad. So, no, doubt if we can fire any off this year. Have alot of friends that went to school in Hawaii and I spent a month there once on vacation. Loved it. Like to hear some Hawaiian tales. There is actually alot of Hawaiians in Alaska, and many families here in Valdez. My kitchen manager is Hawaiian as is my head waitress.

Nice talking to you, but I need to get to bed. Have to work in the morning and then play in a softball tournament.

This must be "Old Farts and the Girls That Like Them" week on the F-150 forum.........

Hi CA, how goes the career pursuits?

You gotta get over to California for a ride in the XLR, it's way cool. I've got the voice commands trained to plot maps to all my favorite watering holes. lol
