New Lightning Owner. The Lightning Bug Bit!
New Lightning Owner. The Lightning Bug Bit!
Well I just got home this afternoon with my new Lightning (well new to me). It's a Sonic Blue 2003 with a fresh new Ford crate motor. Only had 200 miles on the motor when I picked it up. Off to DMV tomorrow. I am planning on performing some "real" mod's to this thing and any advise would be appreciated. I have been looking at this Whipple blower on E-bay 190087513274. Does anyone have any thoughts. It already has Magnaflow true duel exhaust with the X pipe. I will be installing a set of stainless headers, probably the Dynatec Supermax (any thoughts on this). I got the horsepower bug working on my Expedition and now have the fever bad. Thanks for any help you can send my way. I will post some pic's as soon as I get the 16 hour drive dirt off. Thanks!! The picture in my signature will soon be replaced by a Sonic Blue LIGHTNING!!!

I think everyone has lost just a little bit of their passion for our Lightnings. Back in the day, everybody would get excited about the arrival of a new Lightning. I remember when I got my 03, there were quite a few of us posting back and forth about the arrival dates and what not.
congrats on your new L. my 2 cents:
1. get an oil separator or similar device
2. upgrade to an a/m CAI
4. swap crank pulley to a 4# or 6#
5. get NGK TR6 plugs
6. mufflers of your choice
7. dyno & tune
8. get an FTVB
ENJOY!!
When you get a Whipple or KB, you will need supporting mods that will cost more $$$. Unless you start making gobs of power, headers will not do much yet (but they do sound very nice with the mufflers).

I have these items ordered, the Whipple blower with 12# and 15.5# pulleys (kit comes with fipk and other extras from Ford Racing), Dynatec Supermax headers w/high flow cats and midpipe (already have x-pipe and Magnaflow true duels, Flexalite Duel electric fan's, SCT X-Cal II programmer, NGK TR6 plugs, Autometer boost, fuel pressure and wideband gauges w/piller gauge mount, a lowering kit (2" rear & 1" front), billet grills. Dynotuned of Chesapeake, Va. is doing the install and tuning.
How does it sound so far?

When you say 12 and 15.5# pullies, is that total boost, or boost over stock??? If it is total boost, I say it sounds OK. If it is 15.5# over the stock 8# then say Kaboom on a stock block.
Congratts on the new ride
