Talking CHANGING THE FUEL FILTER

Decided to change the fuel filter (32,000). Went to ford and got a new one. My price $11.92. Looks like an old time fuel filter with a tube on each end and a flange on each tube.

Fuel filter is located on frame rail, drivers side about 1/2 way between tank and front. Two big clamps on each end can be hand levered open. However, each end has an internal clamp inside each hose that requires a spectial tool to open. Tool is cloamped over metal part of filtr and then pushed into hose until it opens internal clamp. Do front first and then rear. Put finger over fuel line. Have new filter NEAR, slide new filter from front thru bracket and push onto hose until click is heard. Reinstall external clamps. Note how far hose fit on tube on old filter. Make sure new one goes on just as far and over flange. Install front hose the same way. If hoses are not installed correctly over flanges, you will have a big time leak and maybe a fire.
Turn on key start engine. look for fuel leaks. Ready to race again.

My old filter was pretty hard to blow thru when compared to blowing into a new one. I think you should probably change these more often. Clogged filters can degrade performance and decrease the life of your fuel pump. The assjet 550 confirms improved performance. Whole job takes about 5 minutes on a lift.
