Saying that you can't make a 500HP 1.5L last on the street is like saying a 9sec Mustang can't run on the street..What you people fail to realize is the fact that this car being a 11.5 CR BLOWN car would make it drive like a stocker off the boost, while once you get above a certain RPM the boost kicks in..I would bet that it would make a fine street car..

THERE is a replacement for displacement, it's Boost..Make an engine think it's bigger than what it is and it'll run like it's bigger than what it is..

Hey its possible, look at the f1 racing car's. Those things are sick as hell. I'm not sure but I think they make like 1500 hp with a 6 cyclinder. Look at the big top fuel dragsters, 6000 hp from a V8. anythings possible. ANYTHING (ZOR PRIME).

Looks like the import hot rods are here to stay, like it or not.

NHRA will be starting its own import racing series as well. Maybe they will run before the pro trucks. He he.

You may make the little wind-up motor think it is bigger, but just do the same mods to a v-8, you will get MUCH more power. Therefore, killing the concept of replacing displacement.

Not to push this point too far, current F1 cars have a 3 liter V10, making 700-800 hp, 650 lb.ft, idle at 7000 rpm.

You're exactly right on beware of whats under the hood, look at my sig. That Ranger has a stock camshaft, the exhaust is super quiet because of the turbos, and it looks like a plain little lowered truck. No wheel tubs, cowl hood, or anything. If you don't notice the exhaust or intercooler, you will be very surprised!!!! I could be a real -ss and go racing for slips, but honestly it ain't right, but the expressions are worth a million dollars by themselves!!

All Wankel-Rotary engines are designed to "suck down oil" because of their basic design. There is an oil metering pump that injects oil into the combustion chamber to lubricate the apex seals. Apex seals are the equivalent to rings in a conventional piston engine ("boingers" as us rotarheads call em). The 13B that comes in a 88-91 RX-7 produces 155HP & 150TQ from only 1.3 liters. The turbo engine from the same years can easily go over 200HP and TQ and can be modified to over 300HP easily with a mild bridge-porting and freeing up the kinks in the intake and exhaust. A stock rotary can wind up to 9000 with no problem but it's peak efficiency is somewhere near 7500RPM's. The reason the RX-7 "died" in the US in 96 or 97 (can't remember) was much like the way the 300Z, 3000GT & Supra went away, people were goin crazy for sport utes and trucks which slowly drove up the price of these Japanese sports cars and everyone just couldn't justify $45G's each for all of the aforementioned. I dunno where 01sl got the idea that Ford pulled the plug cuz it would compete with the Rustang because both cars are in two completely different categories; and even if they where the current Gen RX-7 would run circles around any Stang and could probably even keep with the new Cobra-R. 01sl also said the motors (from his understanding) have to be rebuilt after 60,000 miles and he is close but it's more like 80-100,000MI. The NA version (all 7's in the US after 91 where twin turbo) in the second gen can last to 200,000 without a rebuild if cared for reasonably. Any car equipped with a rotary engine did decent gas mileage wise (I get around 18MPG in my 87 and it needs a tune up bad) and uses about 1 quart of oil every 3500 miles much like other boingers. As for the Import crowd, I have much respect for them. Prophecy: Twenty years from now their shall be a revival of this crowd much as there is one now for chevelles and the like nowadays. I do hate the "RiceBoys" with the mango shooting-sized exhaust tips and 10lbs of stickers and supra wings exclaiming 30HP from an intake ane exhaust upgrade. These guys make the whole Import crowd look bad and there are more Ricers out there than legitamit enthusiasts. Well i'm off the soapbox now. Not bad fer my second post, eh?

Question

Twinturbo, ever since you started posting I've been curious what that Ranger turns in the quarter? It sure sounds like a bad little truck.
And nothing I said previously is meant as disrespect toward VOAOs (vehicles of asian origin). As I have said before, I thought my Civic was a great little car, and at this point I am looking for a DOHC del Sol for a more economical daily driver. And if I did get one, and wanted to dump the bucks in it, I know it would have the potential to be much quicker than the L. What I am skeptical of is that this mad scientist guy can run enough boost to generate that kind of power with such a high compression ratio. If he does he knows more than the engineers at BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, and Ilmor combined.

Uh.... NO. That's total bull****.

You know about the McLaren F1 right? It is the fastest, most powerful and most expensive production car in the world. The McLaren F1 has a 6.1 Liter V12 that makes 627BHP. Ok, so that's one of the best production engines in the world, and it's making right at 100 HP per liter.

Are the gears in your noggin synchronized yet?

300HP per liter???? You made me laugh so hard I am nearly crying.

For Christ sakes dude, don't believe every *******ing thing you read.

I've seen some sub-11s civics race at Englishtown before...

On the note of the pink slip, racing like that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
