Question Driveshaft Loops

Hey all, just curious. Will a "universal" driveshaft loop work on our trucks? Summit has them for $24.95...thanks for any info.

Exclamation

If it's the Lakewood model 18000 I would say no. Tried that one already. If my small amount of research is correct they have to loop the shaft 4-6" behind the u-joint. The gas tank is in the way there so it will have to be a custom made one modified to take that into account. I see on JL's site he has one for $59.95 plus shipping. May just go with that one.

Thumbs up

JL's loop is a snap to bolt in according to MM&FF,and is supposed to use existing bolt hole's which is worth the extra money in my opinion. I'd give him a call.

Would the JL loop work on a 4x4 ext cab? Not sure if the L's are different in that respect. I don't know anyone with one. Thanks.

I've got JL's loop, and it's a VERY simple bolt on, right into the existing frame holes. No muss, no fuss.

I was told the "universal" loop was for 'Stangs and Camaros, and would require drilling into the floor pan to install.

Question

4D Thunder, as ya know, I'm shootin fer 12's this season... Do you know how strict VMP will be this year for loops if yer still high in the 12's? My bro's T/A was running 12's all night and they didnt say anything... but that was with NHRA sanctioning, now they are IHRA....

Is this something I need to worry about?
