Ford Consumer Insight Experience
I was selected to participate in a market research exercise w/ Ford on Jan. 29th.
Supposedly I will "have an opportunity to express (my) opinions about (my) vehicle and (my) ownership experience." I thought it might be fun, and I get paid $100 for it, too.
Has anyone else gone through this, or signed up for it?

Getting paid to voice your opinion is always a good thing....
Wonder if they would appreciate a hardcopy of Tundra's list (needing to be updated BTW)?
Go get 'em Gordon!

No kidding, go right ahead and print out as many copies as you want. When I gave mine to the dealership I ommitted anything that gave away website info. Just miles, build, year, and leak no leak.
I'll update it soon...

I'm looking forward to it. It will be interesting to see what they think they want to know.
AFAIK, it's an F-150 deal, and not Lightning-specific.
I currently have the driver's seat thing, the clunk, an intercooler leak and bad paint. I'd say the Red Pig is fairly representative of the Lightnings on the board as she sits, so I should be able to give Ford lots of opinions.
I'll also be able to give them a big pat on the back. This is still, without a doubt, the most awesome vehicle I have ever had the pleasure of owning, and I want to encourage Ford to keep making them.

I went in August 1999 for my Windstar. There must have been about 100 others. There were several different sessions. First was to identify how you use your vehicle, second was similar to a survey q&a session about vehicles, dealers, etc. The third and best part was to sit with several Ford engineers to discuss your specific likes and dislikes regarding your vehicle. They even went out to your vehicle and took a test drive if you wanted to show them something. I got a couple names and numbers, but never used them. Overall, it was worthwhile, but a pia to get to the conference center from Macomb county.
It would be really cool to see all those F-150s together! When and where is it? Maybe I'll stop by.
BTW, their budget must be shrinking, I got $125.

It's 1/29 at 2pm at the Leadership in Excellence Center on Republic in Allen Park.
Those cheap bastards. If they are going to reduce the pay by 20% then I am going to lie on 20% of my survey responses. Ford should know you get what you pay for.

I went a couple months ago.
First they had us cut pictures out of magazines that 'related to our Ford ownership experience' and paste them on a board (no auto/truck pictures please). Then we each went before 3 Ford salary employees and talked. My three were a computer person, a plant engineer and a mechanic recruiter. I bitched a bit, but it wasn't like I was talking to anyone who could effect any changes.
I then had to give them rides in my Lightning. None of them knew the vehicle, but they were impressed when I blasted onto the Southfield Freeway (I didn't follow the 'suggested route'). We then went back to an auditorium and 'voted' on various issues related to Ford ownership. Some people bitched about some minor things, but, all in all, I don't think it was a good forum. I did get to talk to the guy who does the mod motor oil dip sticks and bitched about how hard it is to line up the dipstick with the tube (at least for an old guy loosing his eyesight). I suggested a longer tube and/or painting it yellow. Hair wasn't discussed.
I came away asking myself "Why don't they have 'Car Guys (and gals) working there?'
It wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but it was fun. I got $125, but would have done it for free.

Oh boy!
Did they let you use sharp scissors to cut out the magazine pictures? They don't let me use sharp scissors here, because I stabbed an orderly once, when he tried to make me take my medicine and I didn't want to.

I don't know what to think about my "Consumer Experience".
As warned, we had to cut out pictures and paste them on some art board.
Then we each took our little art treasures to a table with three engineers/staff people, who used the collage as a conversation starter.
I think the "Consumer Experience" is actually supposed to be some rah-rah BS to rile up the Fordites who never SEE a paying customer face-to-face. It was not in any way, shape or form a way to effectively air the consumer's concerns. That is probably left to the survey-takers.
What did I get out of it? They were nice people, and I got paid $100 to talk about my Lightning with them. I usually have to do that for free.

I've done it for GM because of my Grand Prix most of it was heads up display (like in the jets)and steering wheel controls and I got $125.00. Someone called and asked me to do one on the L and I said OK. So the starts to ask some questions to find out if I fit into the profile. He asked if my L was a stick and I said no and well it didn't fit the profile. I told the guy that he won't find a stick L and he got upset with me.
