I see that a few of you that have ordered your 2001 Lightnings are paying a few thousand less then the $32,300MSRP. How? You have to give a dealer around here a BJ just to get one (and each SVT dealer is getting like 10), and they don't think about dropping the price. What are you doing that I am not, but should be? Any help or advice will be helpful because I want to get a Lightning!!

The only plan you can use on the L is and X plan, and your dealer has to be willing to use it, plus you have to know someone at ford, like a dealer, or employee to get you one, which is harder to do than getting the dealer to accept it.

This is what I did

I went to a few dealers, and asked them what the lowest price they would sell me the L for?
Most of them told me sticker price. I told them I would not pay sticker, and knew that there invoice price is about $3500.00 under sticker. Then I asked if they would be willing to split the differance.

If they would not agree, I said thanks, keep my number talk to the sales manager or owner and get back to me.

I finnaly got one dealer to agree to that price. So I am paying $30,172.00

Just remember you have the power to walk away and find another dealer. Also since Fords sales are off 10% this year, and they are making 2000 more lightnings this year you should have a better chance of getting some kind of deal.
