Unhappy Chip Problem

Decided to upgrade to better chip. Got a Swanson. Was awesome but sent it back to have some tweeks made. Got back didn't work. Sent back to Danny cuz he thought he might have put wrong program in it. Meantime had the old L intercooler replaced. Got truck back and chip from Danny. However, it still don't work. Tryed old chip. That ones bust to. Pulled computer checked and recleaned connector. Still no luck. Haven't called Danny yet but was wondering if anyone had comments on things to check. Turn the key and the mileage gage stays dashes and you can the Fuel relay making a clicking sound. Checked work order and it said that amongest all the changes they did is they reprogramed the PCM. Could it be they are on to me and did something to keep the chip from working or possibly stuck a CUX2 program in it? Its the same old computer.

Help! I'm know sitting on about $700 of useless silicone.

widow,

Assuming you have a 99 vehicle, and they reprogrammed your PCM to the CUX2, your going to have to have your chip reburned with the CUX2 program as they are not interchangeable.

what a bunch o **** that is, call the dealer and inquire as to why they felt it necessary to arbitrarily re-flash your PCM, then raise 4 barrels.

also, call Danny and see of he can accommodate you a bit on this...

Sorry.

I take it you have a '99 model since you say that about the CUX2 program. Yeah, they probably re-flashed the computer, which would make your chip useless at this point.

I thought I read a post that said the dealer would update the PCM if it called for it. I'm sure Danny can fix it though.

Thank for the feedback. I kinda thought that might be it. Just really chaps my butt! No more trips to that ford dealer. Total NAFC It was like pulling teeth to get them to do the Intercooler. First time I took it in they tried to tell me it was normal. Told them NOT! can you say closed system. Brought in a bunch of supporting info off the web. Had to basically dial the phone for the the Service Manager so he would check it out with tech support. Good news is that they decided to do it. Service manager slipped and said they thought they were going to have to send it to another dealer to do the work but it was no problem. That scares me!
They changed the IC a boat load of gaskets, new plugs, new O2 sensors and new oil and filter all under warrently. Thankful for that. Took about a week to get parts. Probably helps that theres a ford plant in town. Sucked though cuz I had just put Splitfires in and Synthetic oil. Flusssh. The Service manager lectured me about using SplitFires and said I should only be using the factory plugs. That was strike two on the knowledge meter. Don't know maybe I'm being harsh. But I think I'll drive the extra few miles cross town to the "Major" SVT dealer just to be safe. Thanks for the advise and I'll call Danny. I'm sure he'll be happy to here from me again :->

When I first installed my chip, it ran fine for about 3 days & out of nowhere the truck just would not start. The problem was that the contacts on the chip were not making contact with the trucks cpu. I took a small nail & pulled the contacts in closer together. Reinstalled the chip & haven't had a problem since. You might try this, sure worked for me.

Installed a CUX1 on Wednesday. I told the mechanic to be sure not to do any upgrades to the computer when programming for the key.
Evidently it will do upgrades automatically depending on the tester they use.
