Thats a shame. I dont have satellite anymore, just the old Boss card with a virgin H. Dont really know if anyone uses these anymore. Hopefully youll be up and running again soon!

To run DSS, you have a small card (about the size of a credit card) with a code on it that fits into the receiver (like a cable box) which allows you to watch satellite. Every so often, "the man" sends out a jolt that scrambles the card, so those that pay for it have to get it reprogrammed. The idea is that people who steal or pirate the service can't get the cards reprogrammed. All in all, it is just a big hassle for people who actually pay for DSS.

I guess I am just a gullible idiot. I have 2 Dishnetwork recievers that still work fine..... I try to qualify the things I would sacrifice my freedom for. Free TV is not one of them............
Seems ironic that the some folks can afford a $30k + Toy but find it neccessary to steal TV. Maybe that is how they afford the truck...

If you want to program your own you can buy one from http://www.access-card.com they range from $199 to $499 a little pricey but if you watch alot of PPV fights and stuff it will pay for itself.

Down here we now have hardware (eprom) cards, like a normal card but made on a piece of silicon that has an eprom attached at the end. The standard reprogrammed cards get zapped quite regularly, but up until recently I had my hardware card running for 4 months straight. If it goes down you just reprogram it in a similar fashion to the standard card. I'm no hacker but the software in the eprom cards seems to be much smarter allowing it to stay up much longer.
