What's up Vince? Natty's is some good stuff. I have Natty's Blue and it smells good enough to eat...lol Are you going to the next cruise-in?

Randy
Hey Randy,
Love that Natty's it did a real nice job on the DSG L and wasn't that expensive compared to Zaino.

I'm might go to the Vets car show at the mall this Sat. Starts @ 6

You guys have to try Klasse all-in-one. Easy, high gloss, and doesn't stain the trim either. Plus, it last for freakin' ever. I wax twice a year and everybody thinks I do it every weekend.

Sealant waxes (like NXT) just don't have the depth of a carnuba, especially on a black truck. And they can leave a hazy appearance.

I tried the NXT, and loved the ease of application and removal, but in a side-by-side (hood halves) comparision with good old Meguiars yellow, the yellow won easily.

I just ordered some Griot's carnuba in stick form (like deodorant) for use with a DA polisher.

In my experience, the most important step for getting a wet-look shine (especially on black) is polishing and glazing. When I'm done glazing, the wax doesn't even change the appearance.

Also, the idea of just waxing over wax is a terrible one, again, especially on a black truck. If you don't strip the old wax off, you lose clarity. Next time you are tempted to just wax over wax, strip the wax off of half a panel and compare.

You must mean microscope.

I've got mine out. Just hard to get the right magnification pointed at the screen.

Update: I strongly recommend the Griot's stick. Not because it's better than any other quality carnuba -- hell, they are all the same, with somewhere just shy of 50% carnuba -- but because it smells so damn good.

It's got stuff like coconut and banana oils that smell great! Two days after waxing, my garage still smelled like an island paradise after a spring shower. And the smell even travels on the car.

Sounds stupid, I know, but try some.

I used some Clearkote RMG glaze and it smells awful. It will make you sick to your stomach but it's the best glaze I have used. Poorboy's has great smelling products. Their Natty's blue carnuba smells like bubble gum and their trim restorer smells like coconut tanning oil. It may sound silly but it's more enjoyable detailing your car when your not getting smothered by chemical fumes.

Here's big pix, remember, my point here is that this truck had no prep, has'nt been waxed in 3-4 years, sets outside a lot, but yet, still took on a decent shine wiith 1 application of Ice (btw, i don't sell this stuff).

Nothing shows up, but don't sweat it.

I've never seen a wax photo that was even remotely useful. All clean cars look great in photographs. You could rub motor oil on the paint and it would look nice and shiney in a photo.

Recently, there was a photo on one of these boards. "That looks awesome -- what wax do you use?" asked a reply.

Response: None. It's four years old and it's never been waxed.

My gf's dad used the ICE wax and HATED it. It washed off after a rain storm and he did it 3 days prior! He used to detail cars for a living and said that he wouldn't waste his money on any of that sh*t anymore.

He's a Meguier's man just like me.

My technique for a glass finish:
Meguier's Clay bar.........Meguier's Cleaner Wax..........Meguier's NXT wax

Result:
