Post launching on street tires

i have a 99 lightning. What is the best way to launch with it? should i put sandbags in the rear? should i launch in 1st or drive? any help would be appreciated, thanks

Keep it in drive. You should hold one foot on the brake and use the other on the gas to rev it to ~1000rpm, then let off the brake and slowly ease into it.

Yes, I have 3 sandbags in the rear at all times. Last time I didn't I came acorss an 00 camaro SS, and lost. Since I put them back in, it can go either way, but he usually is pulling away right around 70.

Also, if the track is very sticky, you can leave at up to 1200 rpm, side step the brake & slam the throttle wide open. Works well most of the time for me. 1.90-1.91 60' consistently. Stock weight, but no spare. Lloyd
