Question Fuel efficiency with with a pulley and programmer upgrade.

I'm thinking about getting an LFP stage 2 with a 4# pulley from http://www.lightningforceperformance...age-p-504.html for my Lightning and I was wondering if anyone knows about how much more gas the truck uses once you do the upgrade. I was wondering just so I can start putting more money aside for more gas if needed.

the same...

except for the first few tanks where you feel the little extra power...

with your foot on the floor it will get worse..

if you drive her normally... it will be about the same as always...

Being closed loop, it should still get the same efficiency at part throttle driving - WOT will get you worse under open loop.

Thanks for the information about this topic. I'm not quite sure I know what closed and open loop means. Can someone fill me in with its meaning?

Depending on the programming your gas mileage might be a little worse. I've noticed since installing a 4-lb pulley and SCT tune on mine that it delays the lock up of the torque converter until about 45 mph. So most of my driving around town is with an unlocked torque converter which doesn't help mileage. I think I've lost about 1/2 mpg on mine under these circumstances. On the highway it may be unchanged, or could even be a little improved.

If tuned right, you might even get better fuel millage.

I used to get 16mpg on the highway when I was stock, I can now get at least 18 MPG highway, and before they put all the alcohol crap in the gas, I got close to 20mpg highway.

For the most part with those mod's, mileage is all in how you drive it.

I knew that for the most part it would depend on how I drove it, but I just wanted to see if anyone noticed out of the ordinary gains/losses in fuel mileage. I like hearing that for the most part gas mileage won't really get worse, and that it might actually get better if tuned correctly.

Open and closed loop are pcm stratagies that are used in fuel table corrections. The vehicle normally operated under closed loop where it is looking at the o2 sensor feedback for correction of short term fuel trim. When the vehicle is cold in the morning or at WOT, it goes into open loop and does not look at o2 sensors. The pcm looks at preprogrammed fuel tables based on Mass air flow and throttle position.
