Are you sure the axle broke? These axles are some of the beefiest I've seen. Could it have been a c-clip came off or broke? Pics?

Ya man what he said, usually when it happens on a turn it's the entire axle coming out, EITHER WAY YIKES THAT MUST HAVE LEFT A MARK
That sucks SVT Jer

My Brothers Vette once lost an axle on the Cross Island Parkway, here he is tooling along when all of a sudden BAM he's down on the rear quarter, as quick as that happen BAM AGAIN the tire and axle bounch all wacky and WHOOSH right through the front windshield it goes, (missing him TG). As he comes to a stop he notices the Car is on fire (the Fiberglass caught fire from riding on the quarter at parkway speeds). As he scrambling to put the fire out some dude pulls over and steals his Rim, Tire, and Axle and drives off.....

If the bearing went bad it could have siezed causing the axle to distress and break.

You have some serious carnage there. I have never heard of an axle breaking like that. I would like to see where the axle broke. These are the only axles available to us. Last month, I tried getting a set of axles from Moser or Strange but they do not make them for our application.

it was a pretty wild ride!! i went to the body shop today, there is a lot more damage than i thought.. the cab is dented where the bed hit it on each side, the bed is a little crooked, the front bumper is bent up, obviously needs a whole new rear end and tires and brakes.. doh! i'll take better pics of where it broke later, and not with my phone lol

That must have been an old Vette, because they haven't had axles since the early 60's.

What did you hit going around that Conner? a curb your front tire is flat too. If you smacked a curb you probably sheered off the C clip that holds the axle in place.
