Post Need info from those who have installed the larger, lower pulley

There are now enough of you that have installed the larger lower pulley that increaseas the boost approx. 3 lbs.

I have read the FAQ's and picked up some info. but I want to hear what you thing after using it for a while.

Gives you more boost??

More pulling power??

Better ET??

Now for the big one---does it/will it over-wind the supercharger??

Jim, there was info on this issue posted a long time ago on this board, I just don't recall the title of the thread, buy you could probably find it. It pertained more to using a blower drive pulley, but rpm is rpm, right? The gist of it, to the best of my admittedly precarious recollection, is that the Eaton, in stock configuration, is spinning dangerously close to its design limits. I think the max. safe rpm is 14000 something, and with engine rpm @5200 it is turning 13000 something. So when you add a chip and start shifting at 5600+ you are really on the ragged edge. I remember one guy with a chip and blower pulley totally fragged his motor, but I think he was on the bottle, too. Anyway, it is an intriguing mod, but do the calculations, and I'm pretty sure you'll need to get that R9 reburned so that you shift at a safe rpm. I'll certainly be interested in the results you guinea pigs achieve.

Geo...I believe what your saying is all true, but unless you run the truck like Ruslow {WOT for extended periods of time} you should be safe. The blower should only see max rpm twice for a split second in a 1/4 mi run.

Jim,

Before I had my chip reburned with JL's new program, I told him I was getting JDM's new lower pulley and that I was concerned about the chip's increased rpm shift points. His reply was that he has been shifting way up in the 5k's with the S/C mod for quite some time and has had no problems. Hope this helps. I guess I'll know in a week or so.

Question

Jim,
Maybe I can answer some of your questions since I am testing the "NEW" PSP Lower Blower Pulley.
1) PSP Pulley DOES produce 3 psi increase across the board. 13-14 psi now.
2) It actually feels like you installed a set of 4.30 gears over stock. Take it from someone that had 4.10s for 6 months at the track.
3) My ETs have dropped approx .2 tenths. .10 tenth in ET and .10 tenth in 60ft.
And 2.5 mph so far.
My opinion is it has a lot more torque down low and carries it across the entire power band.
The "NEW" PSP race program I am using shifts at 5300-5400 rpms. Where we were shifting at 5600 before.
Its Fantastic even in the Seat O pants meter. The "NEW" street program is AWESOME with the pulley. Pulls like nothing I've ever tested.
Hope this helps?

Dan

I have the same question. I don't want to mess with trying to press on a new blower pulley either. The crank pulley would be a lot easier.

I do know that eaton has a "limit" on rpm operation of the M112 blower. I have heard 15k but can't show you any where that is says that. If its 15k, then mutilply the lower pulley dia by the blower pulley dia and then multiply by the max RPMs of the engine. I'm chipped so mine shifts at 5600. If your stock you shift at 5200 which gives you more room for pulley mods.
