Smile Muffler

Just had a dynmax ultro-flo muffler put on in the same fashion as the eddlebrocks and magnaflows discussed earlier. The 2 in 2 out all stainless muffler is very expensive ($180, wholesale). This muffler has the highest flow and lowest backpressure of any muffler on the market (considerably better than what borla puts out). Installation coast was $70. I love the sound, very mellow and smooth, until you get on it. Also, it doesn't have the aweful drone that some mufflers do at a 2000 rpm cruise. Don't know if performance has improved, I'll find out this weekend when I hit the track. I feel it is worth every peny. If you want to know where to get one, let me know, I will get you the contact info.

I am switching my exhaust as well. I put a flowmaster muffler in my 65 mustang and it was way to loud (couldnt even talk at highway speeds) so I have been apprehensive about putting one in the lightning. I want a deep rumble a little louder than stock, but not obnoxiously loud. How does your sound and compare to Borla's cat-back system?

I don't think mine is as loud as a Borla. It was just right for me. It is considerably louder than stock, but not obnoxious.

Yoda-

I got a single muffler with dual inlets and dual outlets. It is called the Dynomax Ultraflow, model number is 17276. You can order it from A-1 Performance. Their number is 888-996-0303. Price should be 178.95 plus shipping. I paid tax instead of shipping, since they are located in Houston. If you buy retail from a local muffler shop you should expect to pay $250 for just the muffler. You can find A-1 on the net if you do a search on dynomax mufflers. Let me know if you need more info or have questions.

Is this a direct replacement, or did the shop have to tailor things to get it to fit?

Where did you get the install?

I was worried about the obtrusive sound og Flowmasters, but I had 2 Delta Flow 50s put on yesterday. Love it.... louder than stock and has the rasp mellow sound. No drone at 2000 rpm. You can hear its mellow note in the cab at 70... enough to let you know the stock mufflers are not there anymore. However, under acceleration it sounds great. I really like it and I am not into loud mufflers. Have to say I was turned on to the Delta Flow Flowmasters by a friend of mine who rebuilds and restores Corvettes. Great sound under acceleration, not too loud in cab at 70mph.

LightningDammit-

The shop had to tailor the back end (back of muffler to existing stock tips). That's why the install was $70. Had it done at a Meineke on 59. Honestly, any muffler shop can do it for about that price.

FLOWMASTERS... ditto on installation of dual exhaust 3 chamber Deltaflow Flowmasters on '99 Fl50 4x4 Lariat. These replaced the standard 3 chamber Flowmasters using the new Deltaflow technology 3 chamber... at an affordable cost. The work was custom done at Affordable Muffler in Houston and was done in less than 30 minutes. The results were remarkably improved performance with awesome midrange and milder tones very quiet mellow sounds.

The dual 40 series Flows do not drone, could be louder and it wouldn't hurt my feelings any.
