Yes, the bumper was red (factory painted) with all the pads on it and the hitch plate.
As for replacing the bumper?, I think it's a chore. They use large rivets to hold it on. Suggest buying a "painted bumper" w/pads & hitch plate and have a local bump shop R&R it for you. Ask them if they will do it on the side for cash!

I had my bumper and tailgate replaced last fall at a body shop. An Expedition smacked me ever so lightly and left a little 'smile' from his tow loop on the bumper and a small indentation in the tailgate. The body shop wouldn't fix either one (and the AAA adjuster agreed with them). I got a new bumper and tailgate. $1,050! I helped the technician replace the bumper after it came out of the paint booth. It's HEAVY! Several bolts and a lot of grunting. He then scratched the inside of the tailgate replacing the trim and cables. Bad boy, no doughnuts for him.

Have you thought about installing a roll pan instead of the bumper. From ole posts, you can install for much cheaper price than bumper. Look at TampBayLightning site for pix of his truck. Looks good and LOTS of weight savings.

4rts2nv...Put a call out to TampaBay, he may sell you his, it's red but I guess you could repaint. I don't think he needs it as he has a different set up now.

Question Lightning Rear Bumper

Could someone please tell me if the rear bumper on our lightnings is somehow different from the rear bumper on a regular step-side f150? Some one rear-ended me, not bad just enough to scare the paint on my bumper knock it out of alignment. My body shop guy is telling me that the bumper is not reuseable, and that a new one will cost $350.00. But when I call the same dealers parts dept. They say that the bumper is only $197.14. So does anyone know if the lightning has a special bumper?

4rts2nv, I just bought one for mine. You might remember my recent post "Not too many women can handle the L"
Sorry to hear about your truck.
The "painted" bumper with all the pads will run you about $340.
A "Primer Only" bumper will run around $197.

It's the same bumper from the SPX, STX? It has to be a stepside bumper.

Make sure the bumper comes with the "Hitch Plate"

Try telling the dealer a sob story. The parts manager at mine gave it too me for $250 complete! That's a steal!!

Good Luck!

You said "painted" bumper. So it came from the factory painted to match your truck. At first the body shop said $200.00 to r&r, repaint, and install a new bumper pad. Now there saying $200.00 + $350.00 for the bumper. For a total of $550.00 It just doesn't seem right.

Did you replace the bumper yourself? I don't think it 's very hard!

Thanks
