Angry Broken throttle return spring

Stopped by my local Ford dealer to check on
i/c parts (still on b/o). On way home I notice that throttle pedal seems to be vibrating, then vibration stops and pressure becomes very light. Stop and pop the hood, and as I suspected, one of the ears on the throttle return spring is broken off, and it is dangling by the other. Thank god for redundancy, there are two springs, so the truck is still driveable. So I make a U and head back to the parts dept. They cannot find spring in catalog, show me a picture of a regular f150 throttle linkage and ask me if I can see the part. Duh! Explain to them that the linkage is attached to the throttle body which sits on top of the supercharger, which the majority of regular f150's lack. After much head scratching and 10 more minutes of search, evidently they find the p/n, but they don't have one in stock, will have to special order. Whatever. Go home, bend the broken end into makeshift ear, reinstall spring, figure it will probably last as long as it needs to. Anyone else have this part break on them?

Cool

Mine did the same thing last year. I did the same thing you did and it hasn't burped since.

How much did they want for that 79 cent spring?

Cool

I didn't ask. I figured I could always float a loan, if needs be.

heres a good one. Last time my truck was at the dealer for the clunk and to replace the belts,I got in my truck after and it seemed screwed up and still does.It feels like the pedal got stiffer especially on the second half of the throttle. Anyone have this problem.

Alpha

Have serious talk with your dealer. 2 of us have had intercoolers replaced in Texas with parts that were in stock in the past 2 weeks.

Unhappy

Doug, that's exactly what I DON'T want to do at this point. I'm pretty sure that my dealer has one of the old style i/c's in stock right now, but I fail to see the point of replacing one part with another one that is ultimately doomed to failure. Supposedly Tom Scarpello said in a chat room that the revised intercoolers were supposed to be available in March or April. I'm trying to hold off until they are, so I only have to go through the replacement hassle once, capiche?
