Thumbs up New here

What's up, everyone? Im new here, and ive got some questions. First off, ive got a black 02 L that i just got back about two weeks before spring break. i got it from a dealer in Lubbock and it already had a buch of different mods: alpine stereo, 18'' boss rims, a K&N cone filter, and a flowmaster super 40 muffler. however, i think it's much faster than it would be with just these mods. but i cant prove it cause i dont have a dyno, and i havent takin it to the track yet. i also dont know where a good shop is in my area. anyone else here from Midland/Odessa? or Lubbock?

Dream Chasers, Amarillo, Tx. Look them up. That is who I'm interested in, they have a SuperFlow chassis dyno. Look up Adam Burrell that works at Gene Messer Ford at a location there, he is a Mech, he has a new GT that runs mid 13's at over 3.5K above sea level. He had a room mate that run mid 12's in room mates Lightning. Good luck.

Thanks bud. i just might check them out next time i head up that way.

Anybody got some suggestions for what i should do next to my truck?
I'm in the process of getting a snugtop tonneau cover; it should help the mileage right?
Like i said before, my knowledge is limited. All i know that it has is the filter and the muffler. I want to keep it street but i want to be able to wax any camaro or srt-10 (much less a hemi) that crosses me.

The standard Performance Mods are always Filter, Chip, N 4lb Pulley, (these days hand held tuners are more common than a chip). A Lightning with these simple mods (and a new set of colder spark plugs NGK TR-6) will instantly turn it into a 12 sec Lightning and a member of the 400/500 club.
(well at least here on this coast and at sea level)

WELCOME and Best of Luck with the Lightning
I cant stress enough how important it is to read, reseach, and learn about them BEFORE doing too much. They are Beast, they are easy to make faster, they'll whoop your LS friends NO PROB, but it is also EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to have the proper tune in them once you touch it, (and always ONLY USE 93 to 94 Octane). BEST OF LUCK

Big thanks for the tips, Rob! I definitely do my research before I do anything to my baby.

I think the first thing I should do is get it to a good shop and have it checked out. What tuner would you recommend?

Also, where do you get 93-94 octane? I can only get 91 at the local gas stations. Would a bottle of octane-boost do the trick?

Thanks again.
