rattles gone bad

So I have a 2003 L and I have had this rattle going on for about a month maybe 2. The only time I hear it is when Im about to take off or just softly give it some gas. I thought it was a heat shield, and then maybe the cats but its seems to be getting worse. Any thoughts or ideas would really help. Thanks

Also I have a lowering kit on my lightning and it seems that when I back up and cut the wheel I get get this poping noise has anyone else encounter this and if so what was the fix. Thanks again.

Bless our troops!!!

Got long bars? my 58" bars make a popping noise depending on terrain and such if they are not good and tight, as well under certain conditions my tbars touch my exhaust now and then and makes what you might call a rattling sound.

This might soumnd crazy, but check the rubber around the windshield.I have had this annoying rattle that I could swear was something slapping the bottom of the truck.I did some checking and found a thread with a guy that had a similar rattle and even after two techs rode in the truck they could find it untill a third found athe rubber around the windshield was loose. So I run outside and sure enough about 2 feet of the rubber was loose in the middle.I swear it sounded like it was under the truck.....

Try greasing your steering stops (on the insides) on each wheel for that popping noise in reverse. That sounds like what it is.

Well, if its making a popping noise when you crank the wheel in reverse, then that means you most likely broke the steering stops off!!
I had the same problem, when I would reverse and crank the wheel really hard to the left it would make an awfull noise.. took the truck to the mechanic, and found out that everytime it was making that noise it was slowly shaving away at the inside of my wheel. So I had the cheasy steering stops welded back on... Now I can crank the wheel as hard as I want to in reverse and no noise at all!

I don't know, but you need to put your truck up on a rack and see whats really going on from underneath, especially if your lightning is lowered...

Holy crap...I was just about to start a post on this same subject. Just when I accelerate I hear this clunking sound coming from the back end. I have 58" bars and I crawled under it yesterday to see if I have anything loose but I couldn't see anything unusual. The bars are good and tight so I'm not sure what it could be. It doesn't happen specifically when I back up or turn the wheel.

I really think that the problem is the heat shield. But I just cant seem to find it. The other problem is something with the stearing. Because its only when I turn the wheel to much. So I will see what I can find.
thanks the the info

For that turning noise...did you try and lube up the steering stops with grease or anti-sieze?
