new truck

After 4 mustangs (one Cobra) I decided to try something new, and just picked up an '02 lightning. Last thursday I took it to the track, eased off the line and with a paper airfilter, 85 degree heat and no cooldown (I just drove in and ran I busted a 13.68 @ 101.4 mph. That was with a 2.10 60 foot time I really babied it off the line, I think there is more in it. What do you guys think and whats the best way to the 12's (no juice please)

Hey man thanks a lot. I'm really stoked about this truck. I figured I would miss my mustang but I dont. I've already put an exuhast on it. I had ordered an SLP loudmouth for my '01 Cobra and it had not even come in the mail yet when it got totaled. So my dad and I did some cutting and welding and bang I've got two SLP loudmouth resonators in place of that huge *** mufler Ford hung under there. The truck sounds awesome.

I've already put......
You already have the 3 signs of trouble
Your already in Love
Who cares what I USE TO own ?
And let the Mods begin ....
WOO HOO your gonna fit right in around here

I've also had A LOT of stangs, you name it from the 65's, 6's and 9's
to the first 5.0's, HO's, GT's, Pace Car, Cobra, and the one I recently sold
"my favorite the ProCharged GT Convert"
I bounch back and forth once in a while but believe me the L will give you EVERYTHING you could want out of a Hot Rod, Sports Car, and Track Beast

For the record if your going to be going to the track often (or even once in a while) you MUST get a traction bar most of us run 58" Rancho Style Bars (dont mind the pic it's an old former L I had).
AND a set of used Slicks and Rims (easily found for under 500.00 in perfect shape).

We basically have a bullet proff rear and A LOT of TQ so if you bolt slicks on it (which you want to so you can make that 60ft 1.6 - 1.8) THEN you will need the bars AND your reward will be another 1/2 - 3/4 a sec off your current ET with just the improved 60ft times.

16x10 Rims with 28" Slicks (Hoosier C07) will bring you right up to the 10 sec door step before needing something else so it's the right choice for now.

There's some for sale right here in the classified's
Example

Headline: Hoosier Drag Slicks & Rims 28067

For sale two Hoosier Drag Slicks with Ultra Rims. They are 28x10x16, ideal size/height for a Lightning. They have only 4 passes on them and literally like new. Asking 250 for the pair. I am in Ontario but will ship at buyers expense.
Please e-mail me at...

There are also Bars there I see when I did a search but the 58" is expensive
BUT a good old set of slappers would be fine right up to the 11 sec door step and there's a great deal there for a custom made set for the Lightning

Headline: TRACTION BARS 27350
I'm selling a set of custom fabricated "slapper" style traction bars designed to fit a LIGHTNING/F-150 "97"- 03". They are made from 2"x 3" rectangular tubing and are fully boxed. All TIG welded. They are black and come with all mounting hardware.... (Pic Here)

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN
