Thumbs up Highway racing

I was driving home from a weekend in Vegas yesterday, quite a few cars on the road, enough that i didnt bother moving over every chance i got to pass 1 or 2 cars at a time. I was just cruisin with the traffic at about 80... until that R/T passed me.

I looked over and saw my girlfriend sleeping peacefully against the window, almost enough to convince me not to bother (but hey, i did apologize as i jolted her awake with a hard downshift!) So off we go, playing follow the leader at about 100, and the traffic happened to space just right so we could both get around everyone. Finally we get to a spot where the right lane is open and there is only one more car quite a ways up in the left lane... he moves over to the right, way too soon, which was even better so i could blow by him with my exhaust in his ear!

Now he was following me, zippin along at about 110, couldnt quite step on it all the way, there were still a couple cars in the way. But then i finally saw what i was waiting for - about 2 or 3 miles with NO cars, so i pulled out around the last car and he follows me; he stays right there with me - until i slam it to the floor! Off i go, pushin the speedo over the 140 mark, and he is gettin smaller and smaller in my rear-view. He was back about a 1/4 mile by the time i let off to slow down for traffic ahead.

I pulled over to the right lane to let him get along side of me, and when he did it was all worth it... that surprised smile / dropped jaw! He gave me the ol' thumbs up and i gave him one back, nice guy, and a good sport! Man what a rush!
By the way, what is the top speed on those R/T's?

Nice kill!! I read this a couple of nights ago and wanted to respond but my keybord did a Lightning intercooler and went kaput.

What color was that R/T? I came across one when I was driving from LV to LA and it was a reg cab, blue. Nice and clean, but didn't want to play. Next time you head back there, watch for those small planes, they like to monitor your speed and radio ahead to fellows with ticket books...

Cool

Yeah i know it wasnt a smart thing to be doing. I had the speedo up to 140 mph the first time but the flash went off &*%$ and you couldnt see. This road is behind moroso on SR706 and its about 7 miles long with no side streets. Next time i will take a co-pilot and make an mpg.

Tundra,

This R/T was a dark green color, with a modified exhaust (exhaust tip anyway).
And about those little planes... i definitely kept my eye out for them, i saw one on the way out to Vegas, along with a couple people pulled over several miles later, but didnt see any on the way back.

Cool pix, BackInBlackLightning.

I also tend to “push the pedal” a little in appropriate areas. (Long stretch of clear straight road, dry pavement, no traffic, good rubber, and no cops)

Unfortunately, my bone-stock ’00 Lariat (black) conks out at 110. Speedo only goes to 100 but my GPS will track and record correct speed.
