I'm not real familiar with the mechanicals with the ABS. My ABS quit working a month or so ago (doesn't pulsate under hard braking anymore). Tonight the ABS light came on and stayed on 'till I got in it later & re-started it. My question is what makes the sensor trigger the light? Is there more than one possible cause? Why would it quit working? Anyone got any ideas?

I had that happen on my 94 Dakota, check the fuse... and brake fluid...

(My fuse blew on my dak)

I had a similar problem on my t-bird sc. I HATE TO SAY "Take it to the dealer", because they usually SUCK, however my problem was the pressure regulater valve, among other problems with the ABS and no one was willing to diagnose it but them. So, "Take it to the dealer"............sorry

 

that sort of thing happened to my old 94L..since the gen 1 Ls have RABS (rear antilock brakes) i checked there first....the rear shoes were worn out...i replaced them and disconnected my battery for 5 min........presto it worked......hopefully this helps you......................

Dealer is OUT of the question... besides, it's not a real complicated system since it's only rear drum ABS. I'll check the fluid today, then maybe move to the brakes. I have a feeling the pads might be down since I've never done them while I've had it (2 years). Hopefully it's something simple...
