what to do to make an 11.8 or better L.

I already have 6lb lower, CAI, ngk-TR6 plugs, Full exhaust, dyno tune... dynojet at 419/545...
stock suspension, and Hankook tires... Need new tires soon...

what do I need to do to get 11.8 or better? without a built block?

everything else is stock....

im guessing fuel pump upgrade.. fuel injectors upgrade, how much HP will stock fuel lines cary? FPR?

let me know... thanks guys...

The stock fuel system is good to about 500 rwhp.
Have you ported the blower?
bigger heat exchanger?
electric fan?
Traction bars?
170* stat

I have a 170 t-stat

so, I need a bigger heat exchanger? Electric fans, and traction bars?

that would put me over 11.8? with a little tweak on the tune?

T-Bars are a must IMO. A Whipple and all the supporting mods (pumps, rails, maf, etc) will get you much closer than bolting on everything else under the sun.

You're going to need around 500hp to get close.

Adding T-Bars, Torque Converter & Slicks you should be close in ideal conditions.

back in '02 I was at Houston Raceway Park with a few Austin L guys on a cold friday night (31°). We all got a few gallons of race gas and dropped the spares and flipped the switch to the track tunes. A prev. L owner (s/n- Little Ricky) got tossed off the track after running two 11.8 passes (this was back when 11.99 or quicker needed a roll bar). He had a 6lb, JDM flip chip, cone filter kit, e-fan kit, t-body, full exhaust, exchanger, converter, hoosiers, t-bars, line mod valve & QA1 shocks. 11.802 @ 112.9 w/1.612

Hats off to Little Ricky (I remember him)
But that is kinda the exception to the rule (sorta)

Meaning a stock L with a Filter Chip N Pulley is NOT going to run 11's, HOWEVER this is one of those times where each part of the puzzle does play a part. You already have some greatly needed mods to acheive this so with the correct cooling mods and the perfect day at the track and the correct Race Tune it can be done.

As said in general you need 500HP to do it consistantly, but 450 HP and proper cooling would allow you to sneak a few in on the perfect day.
You can gain 3/10th's through a full 1/2 second off your ET by Icing the SC, Fans on the Motor, C-16 Tunes, maybe a Chiller Tank, Heat Exchanger, Electric Fan on between runs, Intercooler Pump on between runs, weight reduction, Skinnys, etc...

If you wanted a GRNNTY buy a KB or Whipple and YOUR IN

San Antonio is around 500' above sea level and you are entering the hostest part of the year. I'd say you can forget 11.8's for a while. If you run with your current mods and converter, slicks, and traction bars, I'd guess 12.6 will be your best. Making up .8 is no easy matter either and you'll be pushing that stock block hard to try to achieve that. You may want to reset your expectations.

yeah.. I was thinking.. I would wait until December or so before going to the track...

I am up for new tires, so I will probably do nitto drag radials 305/45/18

I am buying traction bars as we speak...

and I think the upgraded S/C cooling system is my next mod... after that... later in the year, I might have Steig port out my S/C... and with all that.. it will run much cooler and smoother than now I hope....

I want to see how far I can go on my current maf, and fuel system... once I max it out.. then Imight upgrade later... but the fuel system upgrades with the bigger maf is kinda expensive.. more than an upgraded cooling system and a ported s/c....

With a 6# pulley, you're already close to the limits of the factory 90mm MAF - get a port on the Eaton and you'll be pegging it.

MAFia or the SCT is a good choice, I say go with what your tuner uses.

YOU will need a larger MAF or an extender opnce you port it.
