Heads Question...

Hey guys, up till just a few days ago I was going to be replacing my blown up motor with just a stock replacement longblock. But now I've been givin a great deal on a Built shortblock. Due to how my stock motor grenaded, I am almost positive that my heads and stock cams are toast. So I began looking for stock replacement heads to just put on temporarily till I get some more money to upgrade. I came across a set of PI windsor heads off a mustang for a good price. They have stock valves, crower springs, and titanium retainers. I was thinking of getting these and a set of the crower stage 2 or possibly stock cams to complete my somewhat budget built up. These heads will bolt directly on with no mods correct ?? I know its worth it for ported heads, but I just cant afford the extra $1200+. I need to make sure before buying them that these heads will work for me. Can anyone confirm ??? Also if I do this should I spend the money/time now in getting the ARP head studs and such or should I just wait till I eventually put on a set of fully ported heads ?? Thanks.

Any PI head will fit and work fine. Windsor is best because you can use your excisting valve covers. If you get a set of Romeo heads you will need Romeo valve covers as the bolt pattern is differant.

If you use ARP head studs you will find it near impossible to replace the heads at a later date with the motor in the truck. It can be done but you would probably find it easier to pull the motor.

Josh,
Why don't you pull the heads first to make sure they are toast. I just dropped a set of heads from my boat off at SK speed to get a valve job and cleaned up. They are replacing some seals, shot blasting it, and milling the surface, and a 3 angle. going to be like 450-600 depending on what they have to do and it will be a brand new head basically when they are done. Maybe an option for you.

It's hard to find good head

Josh what does that mean up to a few days ago you were throwing a stock block in it ??? The reason you've waiting all this time and took the truck off the road for so long was because you were going built, when did that all change ??? You already paid for 1/2 the job I assume you found out that builder you found was the Lightning Butcher everyone is gettign fk'd from ?

Rumor has it you got your money back GREAT TO HEAR.

Why not stop the BS and just order a ****** built motor and heads from JLP, for 5K BAM your done. Whats the diff we'll all be dead long before we have to pay off 1/2 the CC bill's we owe, (it's only paper, and I got A LOT of it)
