Post Calling Factory _Tech

Factory_Tech,
Spoke with a 4R100 Sytems engineer yesturday about the Torque converter on the 2001 L.

He tells me that that there is no change in converters and that a 2000 will work on a 2001. They are the same. The only change was after 99.5 they added the new friction material in the T/converters.

I also mentioned some of my mods and he said with the additional h.p. that the level 10 shift kit I was planning on using anyway, with my new converter would be better for the trans.

So, for those who have added a significant amount of h.p. might want to invest in a level 10 shift kit! T/Converter is optional.

Thor01.

i can't see any change myself, and I'm on record as saying that torque converters are "voodoo" to me, but at the factory we have been advised not to put a '00 converter in a '01 tranny, doesn't come up anymore but during the first few weeks of the model change we ran both years and had to match the converters. Just what they told us. A real good person to ask may be Mark Kovalsky, he knows a lot about the engineering that I don't.

Factory_Tech,
At least we know we can use the tranys & converters from 99.5-01, if some should have the chance to get a hold of one for a project car or new Engine "in my case."

I know who Mark is, never worked with him! Thanks for the reply!

Talking

z96Cobra,
Thanks for the confirmation! If they think they are going to build a bad one, they are going to be surprised when im watching them on the line.

J/K, Ontario has a good rep for building Quality trucks out of the plant!! I'm not worried!. Well, maybe a little!!

I got the ok, from the plant the other day to go up and see my baby get built. That's if we can schedule it right. I'm scheduled for the week of the 15th.

I have scheduling watching the vin# for a buck date to know when the line asy will begin. I would have to leave work, drive up 4hrs and stay overnight or leave at two a.m. and drive to the plant in the morning.

I won't be able to see her go through paint. Paint takes a day and a half alone. Then a day on the line.

I'm taking my buddy's digital camera to take pictures of the birth!
I should have gone out and bought a video camera for this. Don't know if they would let me use it in the plant?

I wish I had my engine done and they would let me install my mods down the line. That way i wouldn't have to take everything back off!

I know!! Wishful thinking on my part!

Thumbs up

Thor,

I am so jealous! I have the video where they show you how a Mustang is built and that is cool. I can't even begin to imagine how cool it would be to watch your own truck being built!!!!

Man, some guys have all the luck.. ;D

Boy am I bonehead! Never even thought about 'em being built in Canada when I posted that, even though I knew they were built up there!! LOL I stopped at an SVT dealer in Cincy by where I work yesterday (to get the spec sheet and book) and they said they would give me my X-Plan and they also said (just as I was leaving) "We are willing you EARN your business" maybe they will give me an even better deal than X but I doubt it. They weren't willing to deal with me when I bought my Cobra, so I doubt they will this time either (went to Williams and they had the best deal). Man I love having 4 SVT dealerships in Cincy!!! hehehe
