Insolvency is when current liabilities exceed current assets. Ford may have a hundred trillion dollars in debt, but until it can't make the payments on the debt, it's not insolvent, meaning that "technically" it's not in bankruptcy.

What? You may want to read the message again. "Ford Motor expects to burn through nearly half of its cash reserves, or $17 billion, by 2009, with most of that disappearing in the next year."

The way I read the article is that Ford has roughly 34 billion in cash reserves, and they will burn 17 billion of it within the next 2 years.

Gay Bill Ford if you listening give me 17 Billion and I promise to make it last forever. I'll be a good rich bastard, my mansion will be ran by only young hot lesbians, I'll buy one of those nice young wifes from another country on the net (hell I'll even have her shipped over night fedex). I promise to only have partys Sundays - Saturdays, I'll buy fast cars and boats, planes and yacts,
hell maybe even a third world country (they must have young lesbians too)
Oh what I could do with 17 Billion..................

"OR"
Stop the BS and get back into WHAT PEOPLE WANT
Not --> well this year Ford is going to make 16 really cool Mustangs and we're going to promote it all over the world but you cant have one. Or hey we're going to give some outside company 100 stangs so they could sell them back to you for triple the price. But hey look we fk'd you on the L but built a few hundred sherman tanks that runs 18's at 50MPH for 50% more.
Every frigging car company is out there taking advantage of PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE, everybody offers performance SUV's, performance trucks, performance cars, performance luxury cars, performance in their entire line up, NOT 1 Mustang.

I swear Imma kick that fruit cakes *** if I ever meet him

Kick his *** seabass!! I'm with you, Rob. But Ford could give-a-tuck about the few hunderd thousand that have a passion about these cars. One thing I learned being in business, is that its finance and not romance. They should take a lesson from Diamond-Mercedes and cut their losses with Jaguar and throw some of the savings into newer smarter cars. The Ford /Mazda vehicles seem to have potential. Fuzion and Edge, to name a few.Excellent cars. They just need better marketing. And expand on the Hybrids. I just heard a peice of a PBS radio show where some guy has developed an aluminum by product that can supply energy in vehicles. Caught the tail end of it, but he is looking to target any one of the Auto Industry's "big" three. Maybe Ford could be the first to sink some of that 17+ Billion into something like this. Yea, its a gamble...but what isn't in the auto industry today. It sure would be an historical sign of the times if Ford ever went belly-up!! Lets see what the future holds.

With all the hipe/bs about Mercon and Mercon V, Mercon/ Dexron III ,etc, etc, etc,... I think this is a good time to switch.

As Spencer stated in one of his other threads, been considering switching to Royal Purple Transmission Fluid. Have asked around and am getting comments/concerns that it is a full synthetic and there may be a problem using synthetics in the 4R100 transmission?

Is this a problem? Anyone using it now and know the correct part# for our trucks?

Some people have said that the synthetic trans fluid is too slippery and will cause excessive wear of the clutches. I'm not sure about that. It doesn't sounds right, but it could be. I think when it comes to trans fluid I'm gonna take Greg Evans advice and "Use the cheapest stuff you can find."

Brian from BTS informs anyone that buys his tranny NOT to use synthetic.

Does he give a reason why? Or does he just tell them not to use it and let the reason remain a mystery?

Royal Purple

When I got my 2002 L it already had royal purple syn tranny fluid. I haven't had any problems but now you guys got me worried. I'm getting ready to put a 4x4 pan and change fluid and new filter. Can anyone shed some light on the best fluid? Is synthetic not the best choice?

I think Brian has an agenda and sells some specific kind of fluid. That's probably why he's denouncing synthetic fluids. I think you're fine. Some people have said that the sythetic is too slippery and will cause the transmission to malfunction. I don't buy into that. When I was still running the stock trans I was running all Mobil 1 synthetic....when it was still Mercon/Dexron III... and I never has an issue. Just really smooth operation. The synthetic fluid is not required in our trans and probably only provides a marginal ammount of protection over conventional fluids. IMHO, synthetic trans fluid is not worth the extra $$$. Greg Evans is known as one of the top authorities on our transmissions and he says to use the cheapest stuff you can find. That's why now that I'm running a built trans I'm just using NAPA Performance ATF. But if you already have synthetic in the trans, I wouldn't waste it. Drain it out into a clean container and then put it back in when you're done changing the filter or whatever you're doing.

I have been on Amsoil ATF for over 5 years and tranny still shifts like new.(5000lb towing, street and countless days on the open track) Temps also appear to be lower too.

From my point of view the non-synthetic debate is BS otherwise mine would have been gone years ago.

What really hurts the tranny is removing the torque reduction and boost bypass, not the oil.
