Angry Scratches

While preforming routine maint. on my 'L, I discovered TWO scratches on her. I am horrified. What are some steps that I can take to repair this unspeakable damage and preventive measures, short of driving my 'L with cotton batting wrapped around it. Not a bad idea!!!! How would that affect my preformance?

Question

Hey'00lightninggirl- you forgot to mention "How deep are the scratches"? Normally, Ford has put a pretty fair amount of clear-coat on our Lightnngs.
I had 2 very deep scratches on my 1/4 panel (from a Home Depot employee-That's another story) and took 2000 grit 3m wet or dry(wet) sand paper (available at any automotive paint store) and sanded the scratches out then Buffed the 1/4 with clear-coat rubbing compound then Mirror Glaze swirl remover.
Thank God for the extra clear.
Body Shop wanted $300.00 to take them out and repaint the 1/4 panel.
Hope this helps?

Dan

Well, kids, if we look REAL close, we can detect some slight sarcasm here. See what happens when you leave your significant other alone for 2 minutes.
Just took me 5 days to find it...

Oh, 1REDDEVIL, your info was useful, by the way. As I DO have a slight scratch on my passenger fender.

I found a scratch in my 2002 lightning. I removed it with some rubbing compound it will remove it if the marks are not too deep.
