Lightning Knock

How's it going everbody, I'm new to the forum.

Has anybody experienced a knock or detonation in their Gen 2 Lightning?

My 2002 Lighting is stock with about 78,000 miles on it. I get a knock or what sounds like detonation only at wide open throttle. I've tried adding octane boost to it, but it still occurs. This problem has been ongoing for the last 5 years. It has been intermittent for the most part, but lately (the last 3 months) it's been happening.

Does anybody have any comment or suggestions to my problem?

As your new here and that kinda problem can kill your motor.
I would get some expert assistance and have your truck checked out.

Have you done the basic's like checking your plugs are good, fuel filter, etc.
Maybe get the ECU scanned for codes.
Has there been any mods done to it which put the motor at risk.

That would be starting point, stay off the heavy boost untill you get it sorted.

I have been doing the scheduled fuel filter changes. No plug change yet, no engine light. I did buy a superchips programmer about 4 years ago. But I've removed it do the knock noise. I realize how detrimental detonation could be on and engine.
It's almost not fun anymore driving my truck! I can't get on the gas pedal like before.

Ya Man you need to get some things checked out. Data logging would be awesome, and def some fuel pressure readings.

Who knows maybe the hi low fuse is simply blown, or maybe you have a bad injector, or a crimped line, or and Fuel pump, or or or ....

Big Diff between Knocking and Detonation but remember these stock block L's were known for some serious piston slap (which could sound like hell)

I would wager that it's probably not detonation. If it's been ongoing for 5 years and you haven't blown the engine yet, more than likely it's something else. The Eaton superchargers have been know to make a rattling or knocking noise when they're on their way out. Being that your engine is that old with that many miles, that may be what it is.
