Question Mods and the dealer

I have to bring the truck in for the intercooler leak and was wondering if you guys think the dealer will give me a hard time for having the Downs Ford Air intake.

I have a reasonably friendly dealership, and prior to leaving my L off for the intercooler leak, I asked him if it would be okay to leave the Airaid airbox in place to save me the hassle of removing it. He stated that the techs are trained only to remove Ford products, and that if I left it on, I would be charged for the labor for removing it and reinstalling it. IOW, he gave me the option, but said I would have to pay. I drove it home, swtiched to the stock box, and brought it back. They will have to remove the downs unit, so just put it back to stock to save any hassles. Needless to say, I did not mention my chip.

I agree, unless your tight with your dealership...Most will be **** about it, so save yourself the grief..and take it off in replacement for the stock unit.

I must be one of the lucky ones because my ford dealer has installed headers, ford throttle body, two different torque converters then put stock converter back in,put ngk plugs in,they even installed my stock cats back on after my bassani cats went bad.I installed a pro-m then my intercooler went bad and they gave me a rent a car for 6 weeks till finished paid for all of it and all under warranty! They want to install my lower pulley when that comes in also. They also give me a reduced hourly rate of $45 since i let them do the work.I guess i should be thankful to have a ford dealer that will install mods and not hassle me about it!

Sprio you are funny!! Stop agreeing

Well, I called SVT and they said to talk to the dealer, specifically an svt tech. I called my dealer who has no svt tech, but they said they didn't care and it wouldn't be a warranty issue. If I could take off the downs intake I would, but there are some problems with doing it. When I got the intake the gasket between the intake and the mass air wouldn't fit, so I made my own with some silicon(SP)sealer. Now the tube is stuck to the mass air and I'm afriad to force them apart. I don't want to crack the mass air housing.

Sucks to be me
