Post 2000L vs, 98 Camaro LS1

I have a 01 ordered and my friend just got a 00L Today we installed the R9 and airraid fipk. We met up with a 98 camaro with ls1 engine with a "chip and exhaust" reply from the owner. He was ****y and the road was a little wet, so we raced from 35-38 mph rolling start and up to 115-118 he was two back. I stopped on the side of the road and he drove by no longer ****y. Man these things are great and I can't wait for my 01. Congrats guys and gals on owning a L

Thumbs up

mikey88,
It feels real good anytime you smoke a new camaro Z28 or WS6 TA on the street and look at there faces after you just beat them several lengths to 100mph!Just curious,do you know if the camaro was a auto or a stick?
I know some SS camaro's with a stick run very strong from a roll!

It was an automatic for sure. I talked to the guy just now and he was impressed. He is a "mechanic" and he was home with his hood open, so he's probably going to work with it some. He also has a 92 vette and said the SS camaro was plenty faster. What do the SS Camaro and T/A do in the 1/4 approx.?

IF they can get traction, and that's a big IF,low 13's no problem.MM&FF reported they thrashed a new LS1 Camaro and Vette at E-Town(NJ) and I believe both were in the high 12's.This was in the editor's column and I don't remember the fine points, but I think they were turning those times on the stock rubber! I've seen a few run and the owners seem to have trouble hooking up from the start, but the MPH is up around 105+.

Cool

Where i race at the new SS camaro will run anywhere from 13.3 to 13.7 depending on traction and trap speeds of 105 to 108 with a stick, the auto's run 13.7 to 14.0 with minor mods on them.

Cool

I've got a friend with a 99' Z28 6 speed.
They are very fast!!!!!!!
He got it about 2 months ago and we just started to mod it.
Stock to stock he pulled me hard...
Once I got my chip back from Sal I pulled him pretty good. Then he got a filter kit and we bored out his maf and cut out a plastic piece that was resticting the flow to the filter. After that we race from a 30 punch and he pulled me every shift....
We went out to Kennedale raceway this weekend 1/8 mile. I set a new best with Sal's new program on ET streets of a 8.177 @ 85.40 MPH. He ran his Z w/ ET Streets and set his best at 8.233 @ 86.67 mph. WOW!!!!!
I beleave it has to do with the driver!!!!!
There were about 15-20 other LS1's out there and he was about the fastest for the mods that he had. I think one ran a 7.4?? or a 7.5?? with a 75 shot......... Very cool!!!!!!
They are vey cool cars but I LOVE MY TRUCK!!!

Yeah, they are nice cars. If he beats me next time I'm going to pull a 5000lb boat in front of his house and tell him to try that!!!

Well it happened alot sooner than I expected!!! The weather is great today and we raced from a stop. The 1st time we both lost traction pretty bad and I started to pull him pretty good so he let off. We raced one more time and I told him anything goes this time no excuses. For some reason I got a good start and up to 100mph he was reading a sticker on the back window that says rock-crusher!! Man that was scary and fun!!! Can't wait to get my 01!!!

Talking

Hey Mikey88,
I would get the JDM engineering chip. Maybe they could use your chip and just do a reburn since your using a superchip......
The very next thing would be the JDM engineering LOWER blower pulley!!!!!
I have an upper pulley but I wish I would of waited for the Lower pulley. Atleast I could of taking it off when I needed to......
Hope this helps.
Get the chip though!!! I've been hearing very good things about it......

Cool

Hey Mikey88,
Go to this site
http://www.svtperformance.com./
I would talk to Sprio. He will hook you up with what ever you need...
I think your L will respond VERY well with that setup!!!!!!
If you like to drag race I would pick up some slicks... 26-10.5-16 MT ET Streets are what I use.....
