In Europe the specfication calls for the HID systems to auto self leveling.
Like the ones fitted to my X5 which give a good even light.

HID's on my truck are good too, I just keep them angled down a little.
Don't get flashed by oncoming drivers and they have passed an alignment test
during my once year inspection.
