Post BABOLT read this

Hey someone told me you had the tire widning done on your truck. Dude I want that done to mine also. I want to have ultimate street traction. How wide can they go and how much does it cost. I was thinking maybe 2 inches wider so I could put some 345's on the beast, or those supercar tires.

Sorry I'm not BABolt but I did recently have my wheels widened by him. I widened mine 1" and am running the supercar tires. It looks awesome. With the 1" combo you can still run the stock F1s on the front, if you go with 345s (2") you will have to go with lower profile tires in the front as well. In my honest opinion the supercar tires are as low profile as you want to go, unless you are using 20" wheels, because the wheel wells are just so huge and there's nothing you can really do about that.

BABolt really stands by his work and his standard of quality is of the highest level.

I will take pictures this weekend and post them on Monday!

Mike

So your running the 345 super car tires on there now with a 1 inch extension. Or did you mean that I could go up to 2" and then add a 345. I want to go as wide as possible without magor mods.

the 35 series profile is about the lowest I would go. I'm putting a 3 inch drop kit on tonight actually, so I think the 18's will look allot better. Do you have his email address. Do I have to send my rims all the way out to california. Can he do the widning to chrome rims also.

I will let you go directly to the guy that widened my wheels. I believe that I now have him setup to buy Ford wheels at a very good price so he can now control the whole process. You can also send your wheels to him. I have widened over 10 sets of wheels and also narrowed some too but I would not recommend a two inch addition to the wheels without some type of suspension modification. If you do your homework well and take good measurements you may be able to pull it off. A lightning could look very nice with 345's on the rear and a 315's on the front. Let us know how you do.
You can contact James at Weldcraft inc. (734)420-2211. They just created a web site and the URL is http://www.weldcraft.net . I like the photos of the wheels there, wonder why.

Will the supercar tires fit on the factory rims without having to widened the wheels?

You could put the 315's on the stock wheels. They would not look right or perform right. Goodyear recommends an 11 inch wide wheel for the 315 and at a list price of $602.00 each the smart choice would be to put them on the correct size wheel.

So whats the widest I could go with the rims and leave to suspesion the same. I'm dropping the truck about 3 inches and new shocks but that doesn't matter. I want good street traction.

Thumbs up

RTKilla,
Stick with the 315's like BABolt. I've seen his truck in person at the SVT Experience and his setup looked absolutely AWESOME.
The man knows his stuff. If you go too wide you'll have problems with the leaf springs, inner bed panel and not to mention the extra weight of the tire and wheel. Keep it simple.

Thank you, RobBlack.
Nathan,
The 2001 wheels were widened for some major corporations (like more than one). I have no details, just another photo. The wheels may be available now. I have not checked since before the holidays.

RTKILLA
The safe bet is 10.5 inches. It works well with the 315 Goodyear Supercar tires. I can't say that you will see a traction improvement though at least not at the drags.
Again I would stress that the 1 inch wider Lightning wheels would be the way to go. You just might be surprised what you will be able to put on them in a few months.

I was.

BaBolt, Please tell me you're hinting towards someone coming out with some 18" Drag T/A's in you're last post.

HANFAKAN
Go to tirerack.com, the have autocross tires there in a 18. I was thinking about those for the street. HAHAHAHA.

Babolt
So where do I have this done at. Do you think the supercar tires are the best out there now, or what about the Potenza'a S02. They got those supercar tires in a 315 for 360 a piece on tirerack.

How much does this widening cost? I might be interested in doing it at some point but I'd like to be able to afford to put gas in the truck afterwards.
