Pcv Mod

i read on another site's faq that instead of using an oil separator, just change the pcv valve to an ev98b....i guess the oil wont be allowed to be sucked back into the intake with that valve as opposed to the stock one. anyone try that yet? will the truck still run properly?

Thats what I have on the driver's side valve cover and it does prevent oil from being sucked up into the rubber intake tube under WOT - the other side still has suction on it though and after installing an L&S oil separator on that side, my IC stays nice and clean now. You can't block that side as you need the flow through the engine.

I would hope not, then the PCV system wouldn't work. The air has to flow out of the Valve cover on the passenger side and into the upper intake. This is where you need a separator.

Nope - as Silver said - you have to have airflow through the engine - air in through the driver's side, through the engine and back out the passenger side. Where Ford screwed up was not putting in a 1-way PCV valve in the driver's side and it allowed the vacuum, that forms in the intake tube during WOT to pull oil back out the driver's side valve cover and into the intake tract - that's why you would see oil in the intake tube and TB. The separator goes on the passenger side to allow the oil particles to separate from the vapor and keep the oil out of the upper intake/SC/lower intake.

If you really want to find out any "value" to just changing your pcv valve, the "search" button is your friend. I believe this was first suggested and tried back in 2002 so there's lots of info available on it.
