Thumbs down Saw something that made me sick today

On Westgate Rd. Raleigh, NC, turning onto 70 east, caught him outta the rearview at the last minute, while I was waiting at the light.
Saw an red 97? 4x2 F-150 longbed!!! with the Lightning bumper, red bed lid of some sort with a stupid looking wing on the back. Wheels looked like standard F series.

I really don't understand this "trying to be like a Lightning" stuff. What are these idiots thinking. It looked like crap.

BTW, I think the Expy's with the Lightning wheels and front bumper look cool, no problwm with that, but a long bed? For crying out loud!

Cool

Isn't that a felony in North Carolina? I hope you notified the taste police. Next you'll be telling us he had a bug deflector, too. Anyone for a group buy on barf bags?

Haha.....barf!
There is a fine line between what looks hot and what looks totaled!
PS - Ready to try out that R9 against mine?
Later,

mracer,

I'm glad you gave the Expy a thumbs-up. I'm kind of proud of how that "conversion" turned out on ours. I will not put a big SVT emblem on it or anything...I've had friends suggest that I do. I just wanted our Expy to be different from the 2 million that are out there. And the L stuff just looks _sooo_ nice. The Roush stuff is 2x more expensive, and not as nice looking, IMHO.

I'm with you on the "look-alike" trucks.

Same thing happened (and still does today) with the late-80s, early 90-s Mustangs. Guys with 4-bangers are having fake dual tailpipes rigged up, slap a 5.0 sticker on there, go get a set of GT wheels/tires, lower it down, put on a single glasspack...etc. That's weak, IMHO.

Of course, this is really no different than the 1990 Civic with the VTEC stickers plastered all over it.

Houndog,

I don't have a CB, but I have hauled my lawnmower and a pair of mattresses in the back of my L before. It's funny b/c within 2 days after I bought the truck, a buddy of mine who didn't realize I'd bought it, saw a "white Lightning with a lawn mower in the bed". He goes on to say, "what is that all about?". I proceeded to inform him that was _ME_. Just so happened that right after I bought the truck, I needed to have my mower serviced.

But, I bought mine as a work truck. It's a legitmate business write-off. I own/manage rental property for a living, and I do a lot of the necessary maintenance...so that means tools, lumber, etc. get put in the bed. That's also why I got a bed liner, and have a soft tonneau.

Question

There is a wannabe lightning in my area that is a extended cab F150 with a body kit similar to the lightning, its lowered, and it has the lightning AND the COBRA emblems on the side and rear.(on the side, the cobra emblem is right above the lightning emblem) no SVT. There is another I saw that is a jacked up extended cab F150 with "Lightning" PAINTED on the side and oversized Cobra's painted on the tail lights. ???

Red face

I am still looking for that Rolls Royce winged goddess hood ornament. I think it would complement my fuschia glow-in-the-dark bed liner quite nicely. Can anyone help me find a source?

Now all you fellows know how us harley owners feel when we see those "jap junk look like wannabee harleys" But then again imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. They even want to sound like harleys and look like harleys but there is one thing, they lack class. The same way wannabee Lightenings are, classless. And I own an F-150
