Post direct port NOS

Hey guys and gals...
Just went for a ride in a 99 L with a 150 shot direct port nitrous system. GEEEEEEZZZZZZZEEEEEEE whew what a rush. I was drivin down the 15 freeway here in wonderful S.CAl and a lightning pulls up beside me. Nice ride..looked stock ..we both got on it and I became very depressed rather quickly. HHHHmmmm i thought to myself as a tuner and installer of N20 systems I couldnt help but catch a sniff of the wonderful sulfer from the n20. Pulled is **** over and started yacking away. 50 year old guy..lives in N california on his business trip to san diego. He asked if I wanted to go for a ride in the rocket ship...of course I said. Well hes got 4.10s, no chip ,no filter, and a big shot of nitrous. I felt my body press really hard on that seat. Wow ,I said that nitrous feels good in here. hehehe he laughed and said no hjere is the nitrous.. OH MY GOD!!!!!!! OH my Oh MY oh oh oh that is one lethal combination boyz. Sign me up for them 4.10 and some spray. Just thought I would share my good fortunes with all of ya..
hehehe
regards.
the cali kid.

Thumbs up

Was this a custom nitrous system or was it a kit from NOS? Just curious as I have thought about going to the bottle also. Also, without the nitrous the only mod the guy has is 4.10 gears? I thought you needed a chip to correct the speedo with the 4.10's or is he just running with a wacky speedometer? the 4.10's are tempting but I don't want to lose top end to gain a little but more bottom. I'm surprised they truck felt as fast as you say with just the gear change, do those gears really make that much of a difference?

The gears definately made a big difference to me. I have not done it to my truck but am on the way. The direct port nitrous system is not a custom it is an off the shelf sportsman fogger system for a small block v8. I spoke with some friends and the lightning dry kit will not be out until late summer. Since there is no fuel return system on the motor they have no way of effectively spiking up rail pressure for the nitrous system. They are in the process of developing a chip to give the fuel required. This chip will piggyback on a superchip etc if that chip has a nitrous program. But they reccommend just the fuel mod that will comne with the kit. It will be a 150 hp kit and will retail for around 700.00-800.00. That is retail price!!!

Hey Seb keep us updated on the that nitrous system, I think I may be ready by that time. By the way have you talked to the folks at CarSound lately?

Question

Something is amiss, here. You can't run 4.10s without a chip, the factory ECU cannot be programmed for them. That is, unless the guy is willing to accept an inaccurate speedo and weird shifting.

I thought the CPU shifted from engine rpms instead of mph. The only weird thing sounds like the incorrect speedo. But wouldn't the 4-cyl shutoff be more pronounced? Or more consistently done?

n20boy,
Did he pop the hood and let you get a look at where he put the nozzles? I was just curious if he put them between the blower and the injectors or between the injectors and the valves? The first he could use a Pro Shot Fogger 90 degree nozzle. The second would require a straight discharge nozzle. Not that have been debating a 150 to 300 hp NOS kit or anything. Going fast is too scary for me.

annular disharge nozzles were used..between the injectors and valves...
Nice set up!! Custom plumbing etc.

As for the soft plume nozzle you may be referring to..yes it can be had in a 90 degree firing offset.

n20boy,
That answers my question perfectly. Do you know how I can contact him?
Did he try going anymore then 150 hp shot? Not that any one I know would be considering that. I agree with most of the others with the no chip thing and feel he should of been pulling some timing out with the NOS. As far as shifting goes the chip dosn't make a whole lot of difference. I've run my truck with 4.10's with and without a chip and besides the speedo being off there isn't a whole lot of difference.

Thanks,
HIGH RISK

I have not seen him since. No he didnt go more than 150 from what I understand..but he did contact me about 2 weeks after that and purchased a progressive nitrous controller from us. His chip pulled 10 back.
