Post ATTENTION!!! Comp. chip owners........read this

I recently had a problem with the PAC chip. It erased the brain of my L. It also created a "fluttering" when I punched it as the rpm's increased. Because of this, Ford has now voided my emissions warranty. I had to buy a new processor from Ford (OUCH!!! big bucks). Has anyone else had problems like this?

I, however, have seen alot of you guys with the Superchip R9. Have you had any problems with this chip? Anything show up long term? Would you guys highly recommend this chip or another? Or are all chips to risky.......

I live in N.J. and wonder if the cold weather has adverse effects with chips?

I would appreciate if my fellow L owners could give me some advice in this area.

I had an older superchip that did the same to my truck. After a new PCM and a large reprogramming charge, I've switched to PSP. No problems yet, but I'm sure there are a few bad chips in any batch.

This is the main reason why I do not have a chip.

Do you guys have any idea how it happened?

The flutter you refer to is present in my truck, but only when cold. Adding the R9 chip really, really accentuated it and made it more than just a cold condition problem. So much so that I don't use the R9 chip anymore.

PSP at the track has been my best performer as well.

I'm running the Superchip R9 and I have noticed that it pings big time now that it is cold out. I didn't notice the ping during the summer months. Maybe it's the winter gas. The L runs stronger with the chip but there have been some tradeoffs - like the pinging and wondering what parts of the warrenty Ford will try to void when they find out you have a chip.

I installed a superchips that I bought from Johnny Lightning Performance with his program. Make a huge SOTP difference and no problems here. I live in MD and it get's rather cold and it starts and runs just like it did before the chip. Go to http://webtechnik.com/johnnylightning/ and check out his chips, I think you'll be happy.

Are all you guys still running the Platinum plugs that have the fluttering?? with exeptions to RED99NJ that had other problems.

I had this problem many moths ago, and for me, it was because the BASSANI (crap) Cats were going south, along with the Plugs. Hope this helps..

I was one of the first 2000's to get the R9. Have been using it for 1000's of miles with no problems. I love it.

I've been running my R9 since fall and it's been in the single digits here in michigan the last 2 weeks and I haven't had 1 problem except for really cold tires with no grip
