Thanks for the info, Barry. Unfortunately I still can't seem to find any info on auto-x in So. Cal. Seems to be quite a bit of activity in No. Cal, but nada down here. The drag race activity also blows here, I have to drive 135 miles one way to get to a decent track, and it isn't open all that many days. You'd think that with all the cars and enthusiasts in this area there would be more opportunities to race (legally). No wonder there is so much illegal street racing going on.

Alphadoggy:

Is Carlsbad not still open?
I raced there for years in the 60's and it was then a fairly decent track.

I also sympathize with you on the way all the drag strips went away. I raced at Long Beach, Riverside, Pomona, Ramona, San Diego and El Centro amongst others in the fifties and sixties. I doubt hardly any of those are left. Of course, we raced a LOT on the streets as well. Other than the CHP, most LEO vehicles of the time were pretty slow and the radio network was not so good nor so integrated as today. Dangerous, to be sure, but fun at the time. Also, our times were dead slow compared to today. We have L's turning in the mid 12's with fairly stock motors and that was AA dragster times back then. I still have trophies somewhere winning F stock with a '51 Merc at 19xxx seconds and I ran a D Gas '59 Buick at 16xxx or so.
Let me know about Carlsbad. I get back to O'side to visit my Dad once/twice a year and will be out the third week of this month. Might drive over there if I have time.
Bill

Glen, Tustin is a long way from me, but if I can pursuade my wife to take care of the dogs for a couple days I might go down to Huntington Beach and hang with friends there, from which Tustin is a reasonable drive. If you're sure you're going to be there I will try to make it.
Bill, maybe some others have better info, but from what I can glean from the web, Carlsbad is shut down and slated to be turned into a business park. Pomona is moribund, too.

LACR is "only" 95 miles away, but the times there suck because of the altitude. For me that leaves only Famoso, 135 miles away, with fairly infrequent meets. Oh, well, I'm not really into drag racing that much, anyway, except to find out how well my mods are working, but I am disappointed that there are not some opportunities around here to auto-x the L., I think that would really be a blast.
