Post Big Long Stinky Post, but with Pics

Did a little street racing saturday night. Nice straight stretch they had the 1/4 marked with 2 cars, wide road, tons of people, there had to of been about 50-100 cars, mostly all packed with people. Mostly imports, a few 4x4s a shelby durango (I presume blue with white stripe) and my L. I got there kinda late so I got in line, well the kid next to me in his toyota pickup didnt really want to play so he backed off, the crowd really booed him. I decided to run for fun, I got to the line, dropped her into first and stood on it, she stood right where she was spooled up the tires. Then launched, while still spinning the tires. took the rpms close to about 4500 then shifted into second, truck spun a little more then took off like a bat outta hell. Needless to say everyone was impressed. And I only had one other person step to the L after that. (more later ) Well My buddy was in line right behind me he said that there was fire under my tires and sparks. A lot of it. This was heard from a few different people. Can someone explain this to me? I looked at the tires and there are no spots that are worn down to the cord, or anywheres near. Ok back to the second and final race. The durango pulls up next to me in the parking lot. The guy gets out, and proceeds to ask me if I have the ***** to run him. Well of course I said yes. When we got to the line he wouldnt even look at me, He did a nice, rather impressive burnout. I was getting a little nervous, heart was pounding adrenalin was going I was ready to eat this dodge. Needless to say, or rather to keep a long story going to make it even longer, At the go I took off, seemed like a perfect hook up, no spin whatsoever, I don't think he spun either. I Glanced in the side view mirror and saw the front of the durango. I had it on the floor and was leaving him behind, I was atleast 4 cars in front of him at the end. Now this is where it gets interesting, I go back to the lot where we were all parked and he pulls up in front of us, I nod at him and tell him nice race bud. And he tells me to f*&^ off, And that I'm just some dumb kid whose mommy and daddy buy whatever I want, including a 30 thousand dollar truck. Well after some not so nice comments from my friends and even some new ones I made that night he took off outta the parking lot, spinning his tires around the corner, almost losing it. Ok Ok. Now on to the pics, theres a bunch but these are even outdated as the L is different now. Well just does not have the license plate anymore.

Floyd,
I don't know how I missed this post back on the 6th but GREAT KILL BRO ! I ran a Shelby Durango about 2 weeks ago(along w/ a Dak R/T and a "SS" RAM) and none of them,I repeat, NONE of them were very sporting. No cursing and such, but no nod or anything either, they just drove on? I, like most of the guy's here, always give the thumbs up when I race(win or lose).I'm not sure what's up w/ the Mopar boys and their toys, but they just aren't very pleasant .

Cool

I used the thumb a lot this weekend.

The drive back from the drag strip was almost more fun than the racing. I was in a convoy with another 99L, a modified 98 Corvette and a 500 hp 99 Viper ACR. The 2 Lightnings did really well to keep up, all things considered. We had a 99 GT, but we left him behind, too slow in acceleration when we were rolling already.

The Viper is awesome in its pick-up from speed. From around 55 mph, we all know how hard the L hits when given full throttle. But the Viper just walked away (and then ran away !!) from all the others. At the track, he ran an 11.81 and got punted for not having a roll cage...

My brother, two years younger than me, just got a new 2000 R/T dokota for his birthday.I just traded in my cobra and got a lightning six months ago (RED).we have a strip of asphalt about a half mile long on our land that goes to a lake.we race on it all the time and he has never beat me.i kill him everytime.it just jumps and flies. that 5.9 just doesnt have the horses like the L.
Guess thats what he gets for driving a Dodge.

TIRE FIRE!!! Could be from rocks in the tire tread, along with super heated rubber that is to its flash point.
