JLP Full Exhaust Questions...

I have a completely stock 2000 Lighting and just found out that two of my cats are clogged and my catback needs to be replaced. I was going to install the JLP Competition R Exhaust system. I was just wondering is that overkill for a stock truck? I will probably add intake, tune and a pulley in the future, but will the exhaust work fine with nothing done? Do I need a tune for the exhaust?

Also, is there anything I need to know about header maintenance, such as tightening the bolts? This would be my first time with headers, so I am a little unsure.

Finally, any reviews about the JLP Competition system? It looks great and is a good deal too. Or does anybody have any sound clips or video of it in action? Thanks for any help.

it looks great and sounds great. Overkill for your setup? probably, but it dedfinitely wont hurt anything. try lightningrodder.com for some sound clips maybe... You're goin to have to spend a good chunk of change replacing your mids anyway, so you might as well do the whole thing while you're at it.

If you do a "search" on here or on the NLOC you'll find that generally LT headers add little to no hp until you're up in the 425+ hp range. The latest JLP R header system has gotten rave reviews from those that have posted - but if you check you'll probably find that most of these are on 500+ hp Lightnings. The JLP system won't hurt you any, and at a stock level you probably won't need any kind of tune for it - so it's mainly a matter of whether you want to spend the big bucks for the sound as at your current power level you can't expect any real increase in performance. And even later if you add some kind of intake, pulley and tune, until you're in the 425+ hp range, it's not likely you'll see any real hp increase.
