Question The 12 bug has bitten

Ok boys and girls. How bad is the exponential curve now to go from a 13.5 to get into a 12 number? I've got Sal's chip and filter only (and it pings bad). I bet if I could get rid of the knocking/pinging and get my launch in the 2.0, I could probably get a 13.4. So what's it take to bring down 4 tenths. A set of drag radials and the lower pulley? Or does it take way more than that? I do not want to go the Nitrous route.

No I don't. When the 2000 L came out, I got one of the first "temporary" single profile chips. It knock and pinged incredibly bad, then when he got his 4 profile chips I obtained one of the very first ones and I have not had any reprogramming since. What's up with his new program? I haven't seen any information about it--I can't access his website.

Peter B, if you are going to run drag radials, also throw in a Pro Torque Converter. Just those two should knock off a good .4X-.6X. Check out the latest issue of Truckin'

Peter B,
Very amatuer opinion here, but I'd suggest that the easiest/cheapest way to get your truck into the 12's would be to find a track at lower altitude and some better air. I'm running the exact same setup you are (except for the pinging), and although I haven't run a 12 yet, I believe the truck has it in it. All of my runs have been in far less than perfect air, and for me there's more time to be shaved as the driver's skill improves. Based on what I've seen so far I'm convinced that if I could run in good atmospheric conditions, and put together a good pass, my truck is capable of a 12 second pass on the F1's. I'd guess yours is too.

I have his latest program. $10 and turnaround was under a week. That said, I still have a little bit of pinging because of the winter gas here. Still, its a strong chip and the shifts are the best of any chip I''ve tried.
