Question problem with truck jumping forward when starting

i remember someone talking about their truck "surging" forward when they crank it.
cant remember who it was, and searching has turned up nothing.

sometimes my truck jumps forward when i start it. its like it's taking the slack out of the driveline.
it rolls forward 6 inches or so and then right back.
it doesnt do it all the time, and i havent figured out a pattern yet.

does anyone else have this problem?
is there a fix?

I've always owned standards, but in the autos I've owned I've never had this problem until I bought this Lightning. I'm not going to worry about since it's so intermittent. If it gets worse or something I'll think about it.

Maybe with 360 hp turning the fan, it's acting like a propeller! Then the transmission catches and holds her on the ground....

Mine does it also. Like Ray said, it seems to do it more often when the truck is really cold, or has been sitting for some time.

okay.. mine usually does it if it has been sitting for a while, or if its really really cold.

*note to self* dont park too close behind anyone.
is that the fix?

Cool

Since it's been colder mine's doing it too. It only moves about an inch or 2.

You my also try searching by user name Factory_Tech as he has talked about this before (His expertise)
Mine also did it when it was cold also, but I figured it was a torque convertor lock-up thing, no big deal.
My new '01 pick-up does it also...
