Most sites have a low tolerance for rules violations BUT MOST also respond to intelligent, thoughtful OFFLINE emails explaining the confusion.
Don't expect an email from me telling you what you did wrong, but if you email me or the webmaster and explain what happened may times the decisions are reconsidered
