Post Help - leaking tranny fluid

I noticed a few drops of red fluid on the garage floor today; clawed under the truck and noticed a drop of red fluid collected at the lowest point on the tranny pan, and the pan feels very oily.

Is this just the pan gasket leaking? Something more serious? Anyone know?

I have had a leaky gasket when i serviced the trany @ 10k, then i noticed a leaky gasket at 15K and it is doing it again at 20K, not as bad as yours tho. I guess I have cought it before it gets to that point. Bring it in and the dealerhsip with service the tranny and replace the gasket under warrenty.

I have also had the lines be loose on the tranny. It's hard to see just where the fluid is coming from.

The blak pipe on the side of the box where the lines come in is the CBV Valve (coolant bypass vavle), it is a common source of leaks, get a dentists mirror and look on top of the bolts for a paint stripe, this is the verification at the factory that the fitting is tight when shipped. Also, the cbv should have two washers on it at each fitting, make sure there is one in front of and behind the fitting. If this is it, it's very easy to fix. We had a problem with the machine that tightens this fitting last year, and that's when we started marking the connection with a paint pen. We started in about june, so if it has a build date before 0F01 (code line on the ID tag, "BD 0F01" is June 1st), this could be it or after even, i guess.
