Thumbs up

Besides all the reasons (1-10) '01ArrestMeRed mentioned I own both a Lightning and a Cobra.
My Cobra has been sitting in my Barn for 9 monthes since I got my Lightning.(am seriously considering selling it).
You see, if I spank someone with a my Cobra, then it's "Oh! Well! You KNOW it was a Cobra that just beat me" BUT Spank someone with a Lightning "TRUCK" and you hear "What the heck have you done to that pickup truck to make it that quick". Not to mention the humiliation of having his friends witness it.
Sometimes, I wish Ford didn't put Lightning Badges on our trucks to make them less identifiable. SOMETIMES!!
Dan

If you're talking about a '01 Cobra, then don't hold your breath. Rumor is they are on hold. Some here have said differently...I hope you're right.

Anyway, it does depend on what you need/like. I'm a car-guy first. I enjoy my truck, and I drive it more than the Mustangs. That being said, I wouldn't trade either Mustang for the truck. That doesn't mean they are better...its just my opinion.

As far as one being faster than the other...stock for stock a '99-00 L is no faster than a '96-98 Cobra...assuming both are driven correctly. 1/8 mile the truck will win, 1/4mile it will be a dead heat. Over 110, forget it...the Cobra will walk away.

Modify either of them and they can be made very fast. I believe it will cost less to modify the L to get it to run low-13s/high-12s compared to the Cobra.

I own both...I have some experience here.

Well i have a 92 Mustang LX now as my daily beater. I just paid it off and am looking into something new. I am thinking either an Atlantic Blue 98 Cobra or a 2K black L. Something I can drive daily so I can build my LX up. What is the gas mileage on an L?

Think about when you go to the track with your built up mustang getting towed by your new 2000 L. Thats a pretty site. Thats what me and my buddy did for a picture with his 88 gt.

Cool

Here's the best reason for getting a Lightning I can think of:

Getting to listen to the track officials laugh at the F body guys complaining about getting beat by "those damned trucks"!

1) Looks Great
2) Multi-functionality
3) Lotsa HP & TQ stock
4) Blower
5) Looks & goes faster in Red
6) Cleans house on unsuspecting Cobras. LOL
7) Goes like hell and can also tow 5000lbs.
8) Comes loaded from the factory
9) The pipes look cool coming out the side
10) Just Because

RTKILLA> Your trucks looks sweet!!

In the past we had looked at Cobras and Contours. We drove a new '99 GT. You don't want to ride in the back seat. I had only glanced at a Gen 2 L a couple of times at a dealer.

I tried to be realistic when I made up my mind to buy a new vehicle. It didn't take me long to know what I really wanted.
