G-Tech Test
Hi,
Gforce over on the NLOC forum posted a rear wheel HP test.
He recons best way is to put it in second and slowly floor it. He put the weight as 4,670lbs with a full tank of gas plus any extra stuff and his weight. This should give the best results without any weird stuff when shifting. He got 377HP with his mods.
How about anyone with a G-Tech try this and post the results.
I have one but my L only has 500 miles so far. Will try it when I get more miles on her. All credit to gforce for the test idea.

Hilander,
It can be done in 1st as well, obviously. But I found it to be difficult b/c the truck hits redline so fast I'm in the rev-limiter almost immediately, causing full throttle jolts. Not to mention uncontrollable spinning out all the way to 45 mph. Then, you let off the gas at redline and it really puts a strain on the transmission and axle. Try shifting the shifter and once again, you get banging of the gears and false readings. I don't like to thump around on the drivetrain if I don't have to.
So, because putting it in D or O/D causes shifting spikes, (428 rwhp on mine) I put it in 2nd. You start in 2nd gear and it stays there for a very smooooth pull, just like a dyno does. At about 5,300 rpms, slowly let off the gas and there's no banging or thumping because of 2nd gear's added ratio to 1st.
I don't know how the G-Tech knows, but it seems indifferent to which gear you're in as long as you don't give it a banging around. With an easy touch in 1st, I can be at the same HP measurements as 2nd, but it takes practice. I like 2nd better because it's harder to screw up. I went to the dyno and I'll never spend another $106.00 to do it again. My G-Tech is awesome for showing what's going on, and the AssJet 248C always agrees. Hope this helps.
Since you mentioned it - I saw the group purchase that 80+ people got in on that I didn't get to take advantage of and I wish people would post their HP's as well, to see what mods are working good.
P.S. Also, 2nd gear gives the s/c more time to build actual boost, thereby reflecting a more accurate HP measurement. The dyno guys enlightened me on that and I have to agree. Has everyone that ordered a G-Tech received it by now? Saw the big stink over the G/P. My short term goal in life is to hit 425 HP w/o nitrous.....
