That brings up a question for me. In the FAQ it talks about people that have ordered the keyless entry door handle (the one with keypad) from an expedition and installed it on their L but none of them seemed to have the keyless entry system (remote) installed already. Has anyone out there done this? I think it would be a cool option to have in case you did something like lock the keys in the truck.

DJANIMATE - the lightning comes with the keyless entry system (remote key fob).
has lock, unlock, and panic buttons.

Clonetek,

Thanks for the reply but I was referring to having both the remote keyless entry and the door handle with the keypad on it (from an expedition), the guys in the FAQ have installed the keypad but they didn't have the remote so I was wondering if anyone had both. Maybe it's just me but I think it would make a nice custom touch.

Thanks,
Adam

I've got both on mine. The L comes with the keyless remote, you just have to add the keypad handle to get there. In the 99's you have to do some wiring. In the 00's the wiring is already in the door.

Thumbs up

Glad to hear its being updated. Only wish I'd found it before I bought my L. Excellent resource. Hope to have something to offer in return. Thanks.

as clonetek said...the remote keyless entry is standard on the lighting...so everyone who installed the keypad...already has the remote also.

Ok, maybe the question didn't seem to make much sense but I didn't know all 99-00 L's came with the remote keyless entry. In the FAQ one person had stated, "It is my understanding that if you have the remote keyless entry, the wiring will be there for the keyless entry", the "if" being the part that lead me to my beliefs. So with all that cleared up, ****** - Will your keypad deactivate the security system like the remote if used alone? Thanks to all for the help.

what security system? the little "theft" light that flashes on the dash? (hint - the lightning doesnt come with a security system)

i tested my "security system" by rolling down the window then locking the door with the remote. i then reached inside and opened the door (like someone would if the broke the window). nothing happened.

so, in other words, yeah.. it (the keypad) turns the light off.
