2001 Sport Truck Of The Year
new Sport Truck mag has the winner being the new 1/2 to 3/4 tonish GMC Sierra C3 Xcab, all wheel drive 6.0L 325hp. it actually out accelerated the Ford "sport trucks", which were the 4dr 2wd Supercrew F-150 5.4L, and the 4dr Explorer Sport Track V6, the Lightning was not invited. the C3 did put the "sport" back in the sport truck class, with it's blistering 1/4 mile time 16.47@83.45
, it's price as tested 38,995 leaves plenty of money in the bank for mods in case any other sport truck can break into the mid 16's and get on it's bumper.

HI!... I don't call that a SPORT TRUCK! I call that a SLOW TRUCK!lol! I don't have a LIGHTNING, but my truck ran a high 15 second 1/4 mile time with only 260H.P! I have slightly more H.P than the CHEVY and I am more than 2 seconds faster in the 1/4. I think CHEVY needs to learn a lot from FORD's. By the way, the LIGHTNING is NOT a SPORT TRUCK! It's a SUPER SPORT TRUCK!lol!

Sweet Mother of All Things Holy! My buddy's NASCAR edition (2WD, Standard Cab, 4.6 Triton, Open Diff) will run with that, at right around half the price. Plus it looks better also (pretty cool actually for a non-Bolt). I realize it isn't being made this year, but just trying to establish a sense of perspective. He ran a 16.5 @ 82 in his first trip to the track in reasonably good air.

I think the reason that the L doesn't ever win this sport truck of the year award is because it really doesn't fit in a class with those other trucks. When Car and Driver put it on the cover, I think we lost true "truck" status. Besides, do any of you even compete against non-L trucks? I haven't found one in the realm of even thinking of it yet.
I spend most of my time fighting off the "muscle cars", so maybe we should be the winner of the 2001 sports car weighing in under 5000 pounds category.

Ok...I have two thoughts on what our truck's official "class" should be.
Option 1: Since toyota celicas, mustangs, and camaros are called sportscars...but ferraris, porches, lotii, and vipers are called supercars...WE SHOULD BE CALLED SUPERTRUCKS!
Option 2: Since all we really compete against are musclecars...WE SHOULD BE CALLED MUSCLETRUCKS!
But we definitely do not fit into the class called "sportstrucks" Its just too bad that we are the only member of our class. Hehehe.

Man, dont you guys get it?
I was having a field day when I heard about the Toyota Tundra, all the commercials "Fastest import truck" "Quickest Base Model V8"
I had my smile when I was in Vegas, I finnaly got a light with one, and I knew I would catch a second. He took off hard, and I let him inch away. At the next light he looked over and grinned, and I gave the thumbs up, and grinned right back, and threw another rev, except this one was louder, and longer. Then I put it in gear, and warm my tires up, I can see him looking at my truck rocking back and forth, wondering what the hell he got himslef into. Light goes green, and I am at 80 when he's near 50. I shut down and get on the brakes to catch the third light, becuase I know for a fact he's not gonna make the green with that slow truck. Well, the grin is gone, and so is his pride for his 'fast' truck.
Let the magazines call it the sport truck of the year, with the exception of a few articles, the whole magazine is a paid advertisement clouded by 'journalists.' Ford didn't pay any magazine to get the status, because they know it is the baddest of them all.
I cant wait to come accross my first C3. I just want to know when they are coming out...I gather their performance would be close to that of a Durango R/T, but not quite as good, and you should see the videos of one I have...
