Who has actually done this?

Dynoed their truck with pulley, tune, CAI, ect...outside of major modsl With...say...500hp or less on a stock long block and then added long tube or short tube headers and turned right around on the dyno just to see what the headers gained or not.

By the time you get those headers on, your beat!

That would be nice to know though, I just put on headers last week but the last time I was dynoed was last year...

On my truck basic boltons, 4lb lower, CAI, chip, E fan, plugs, throttle body I then added a full exhaust, something like 15-17 HP and 28 FPT, did the truck feel faster, ah no, but I does sound badass, oh yea.

Well, that is better than I've read from most of the elders here. Seems the norm is, you gain nothing, zip, nodda... so I guess the Dist. that sale these items and the experience I've seen personally with naturally aspirated engines say at least you gain something.

been covered a million times

actually , a bazillion times, but headers won't give you a giant boost in PEAK number on a basically stock truck, but it will pick up on the mid range.

The more mods you add, the more you benefit.

I think it's the high flow cats where you really pick up the power.

Unless you were looking for sound, i wouldn't spend the money for headers on a stock truck.

They were one of the last bolt ons i did.

432/532 on a stock block, 4lb lower, tune , filter, headers/high flows, ported blower.

Not bad.

Ran a best of 12.71 @ 107, that was on a 2000 truck with stock gears.

I thank you Tllimeca, I agree, the most money for the least gained... like I posted, has anyone actually done this...I got one reply, not a million, or bazillion. Has anyone actual proof, is what I was asking. My only quest was, all the treads I've read, you would not gain ANYTHING!!! So, we agree somewhat. Thanks for the input, just looking for substantiated knowledge in my quest to contribute to the L universe. It's all good.

I am going to be putting a set of long tubes and high flow mids on my truck soon. I have most of the bolt-ons and dyno'd 441hp/524tq with a 4lb lower and ported blower on a 14* tune. I will be adding a 6lb lower after the exhaust and will dyno it.

Check out this link to nloc, i think it will answer your question, headers/high flow or no cat mids add a good peak gain and add quit a bit in the curve........

Enough said, outstanding low/midrange gains, I had know idea it would be that much. Kinda disproves the no gain theory. STRK BY, you are the man, just what I was looking for, everyone ought to read what you've found. Thanks.

Yeah, the no gain thing is bull, on a 4800lb truck, mid range pick up is very important for acceleration in my opinion. There has been quite a few guy who have done before and after with JUST headers high flows, and peak numbers show somewhere around say 10 hp, 15 ftlbs. On a stock truck, that's not bad. Now the gain/money ration isn't great , but it's one of those things.
