Thumbs up CLUNK FIXED!!!!!!!!!!

Man has this been along time coming! A friend of mine has come up with a fix for the driver's side control arm movement. It has been on my truck for about a month now. I have had no more movement or sound. I'm trying to talk him into making more of the parts. Its a very sano fix! I've just about convinced him. He told me that he would sell it for $35.00. I'm not going to release any infomation on what it is intil he gives me the go ahead. I'm here to tell you that you will not be disapointed!

Question

I didn't know about this washer. Have you had it done? Does it hold?

Cool

Here is the current fix being used by the South Florida dealerships:

Tighten existing bolt as tight as possible with the longest wrench available. Once this is completed, put a four foot pipe on the nut and repeat process.

I'm not saying it's right, but I've got 305/55/18's on mine, and the clunk has been gone since the dealer performed this delicate and intricate procedure on my L.

TimBurntire......

305-55-18's !!!? Did you go with BaBolts widened rims? or is that on the stock width ones? Man I really wouldn't mind seeing that. When do you think you might be heading to Nickels?

Talk to you later.

Had the washer fix (haha) done to mine about3 weeks ago. seemed to work for about 2 days. Then came back but not as bad. Now it's worse than ever. Haven't had a chance to recheck bolts. Steve

I've had every fix that Ford has to offer! Guess what? I was still with the dilemma of having the control arm moving. I didn't have the washer thing done. I don't think that you should have to over tighten a moving suspension part or weld on it. That just sounds crazy to me. I don't have away of posting a picture. You guys, just trust me on this one. We are going to start making them very soon. Its a CNC part and we have to find time to fit it into his schedule. I have cam bolts top and bottom with no problems.

WELD IT...and your done. This is what real "Ford Dealers do"...the ones that prevent repeats...they loose money on repeats...TEXAN FORD HAS WELDED OVER A DOZEN...NO REPEATS!!!!

Those tires are huge, I love Nittos, although I want 305/35/R18. I read the other post, linked my Nathan, they look like my snow tires! Except 6" wider.

The only thing I do not like about it is it brings the ratio down to 3.23 (thanks DreamAboutL). I used to race an 00 Camaro SS almost every weekend, and he has Nittos, any mistake on either one of us, and its over. If I make a mistake like forgetting my sandbags, I lose, if he doesn't get a damn good launch, he sees tailights to 65. I think he laucnhes at around 3000 rpms. There is this other 00 camaro SS, he has the stock tires, and he cant launch over 1200 rpms, otherwise he'll see taillights all the way to Canada.

I want Nittos, might consider the size you guys have, I hope they make 305/35 or 45/R18. One last question, did you guys widen your rims, I have this feeling you guys didn't.

Thumbs up

I'm going to use a camera tomorrow to take some pic's of the part. I will post them soon as I get the roll back from developing. Its two inserts that fits in the slots of the control arm. It has an 5/8 hole in it for the bolt/cam bolt. Its made from Low Carbon Steel, Machined on a CNC.

The 305's fit on the standard rim. I bought chrome rims when I did the tires. Don't have pics. (Thanks Nathan for posting yours)
The truck rode a little rough when I first had them put on, but I lowered the rear tire pressure and she's smooth again.
If you go with the bigger tires, IMHO, you need to lower the truck. The tires fill up the wheel well great, but everything sits higher.....2/3, I think will do the job. I just ordered a kit from So-Cal Performance.

I was at Nickels Saturday....didn't see you. There were four L's there.
